Why does 12Seconds cause my browser to crash?
Whenever I go to http://www.12seconds.tv and either stay on the homepage or try watching videos my browser crashes after a minute or two. I have tested 12Seconds in two web browsers, Flock (which is a Firefox build) and in a webpage using Fluid (which is a build off of Safari). Anything that runs in either Firefox or Safari should be able to run in either of the browsers. 12Seconds ran fine before the redesign of the site. I would like to post some videos and do some of the daily tasks as well as view videos, but without this problem being fixed I can't really do anything with the site. The best I can do is report the problem here and wait.

Inappropriate?Hey, that sounds very frustrating. We are noticing some crashes, particularly in Safari. We are working on it now. Thanks for posting this.
I’m on it.

I reported having this problem too. I use Firefox 2.0.0.20 on MacOSX 10.4.11 and it occured with the new layout too. -
Inappropriate?we're having the same problem. think we reported it a while back with the old design. it crashes less often now but it's still an issue.
using FF3 on a Mac, and Logitech 9000 camera.
I’m still frustrated

Inappropriate? We haven't found a simple fix for this yet so we're constantly trying things and we'll get this resolved as soon as we can.

Inappropriate?Hey everyone.. we've made a few changes to the site (removed some of the fading/sliding) that we hope might minimize the crashing many of you have experienced. We'd love for you to try the site again today and let us know if your browser is still crashing or not. Please report back to us either way so we can continue to make changes appropriately to figure out this problem.
Thanks!

Inappropriate?hey Jakey,
Safari crashed for me just now. Here's what happened.
I had just recorded an update. The recorder was still open. I then watched the update in the small player and while I was watching it, I clicked on the comment link to create a comment. As soon as I clicked the browser hung up, I saw the beachball and the browser shut down.

It does seem more stable though. It also seems faster.

Inappropriate?Sorry to report as Beach today: as soon as I finished listening to a video in my home view, Firefox crashed (watched it in the small player and it crashed). I had one other tab opened with Netvibes.

Inappropriate?I get a crash in Safari most often when I'm uploading a file from my local machine... but it's random.
I’m undecided

Inappropriate? If it helps, I've posted an image of the error / crash dialog - http://skitch.com/andypiper/byixp/saf...

Inappropriate?I'm using the Camino web browser v1.6.6 on OS X 10.5.5 and consistently get a crash after a video finishes playing on the Everyone tab.
Just letting you know :)
Thanks,
Joel -
Inappropriate? We are still working on fixing and think we're getting close. If you all can, keep trying the site and let us know if you still are having problems.
thank you! -
Inappropriate?I've had the same problem with Firefox 3.0.5 It crashes anytime I record anything and the problem increases if I restart and persist. The best solution I have found for the time being is to use the IE Tab extension. It renders the current page in the Internet Explorer engine embedded in Firefox. I have tested this and found it works well. I also tried viewing the finished video and Firefox without a problem.
I’m okay with this for now

Inappropriate?I am having this issue in Safari on Mac OSX. I like the site, but it's annoying to have it stall and crash my web browser.
I’m undecided
-
Inappropriate?yeah Safari still crashes. We are aware of it will continue to work to to improve it. Good news is that Firefox for the mac is stable on 12seconds (i am a mac user and safari user too, so I know how you feel).
-
Inappropriate? The problem is spreading - it not only crashes my browser (FF3 / windows) but it crashes Tweetdeck too.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Firefox on XP still crashing when cam is enabled. Whether I watch a vid or create one it crashes.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? The problem isn't necessarily "spreading".. on windows, it stems from all of the webcams being not fully supported by Adobe Flash and when we try and load them up, flash crashes. Because it's the same code in Tweetdeck and on the site, if you're having the problem in one place, you'll likely have it in both.
We are working on this though and trying out best to figure out exactly what the problem is so we can attempt to fix it. Keep your flash updated as Adobe releases new versions all the time that may address these issues.
