The product is awesome except for one major problem that I haven't figured out yet.

Let's say I have a collection named "2008-07-28 EOB HILL CLARIAN" and it is tagged "Jillian, Helathcare, Insurance." I need to be able to search for "HILL" in a query and find that collection.

Auto complete only shows tag names, not words in the collection name.
The query shouldn't even deal with Tag names since I can click those on the left hand side to delimit the query.

I accidentally created two collections, both named "receipts." Each collection includes a couple of pdf scans of receipts. Can I merge these two collections into one? Or, move all the pdfs from the first collection into the other?

I was also surprised I could create two collections with the same name. Doesn't that defeat the purpose?

Hi. We are considering purchasing your software. Do we have to create a new package each time we want to tag a document. For example, I have a dozen bills from our vendors that I would like to tag. Each bill should be able to be tagged separately. Do I therefore have to create 12 packages?

I have tried to attach a file to at container containing a tiff file, if I do that it will erase my tiff file, I would like to use at for storing ISO files with a cover but it will not work for me

Why is there only a "creation date" in the collections? I miss an individual "document date"! When I will start with 42Tags it is normally (for me) to scan "old" documents/contracts! But with the creation date it is not very useful to search for those collections! I have to remember the creation date of the collection and not the real document date!

I have 2 pc's sharing files and folders on a network attached storage. How can I install 42tags on both pc's and have them shared the same tag-choice and image-database?

First off I appreciate your intelligence and the thought you have put into your product and web site, Thank you!
I am looking for a product like yours to handle scanned and other documents, facilitate searching and finding the files when I need them plus a long term archive solution. I’m willing to offer my thoughts and concerns if you are willing to listen.
Everything I say is with good intentions and a desire to help.
You could consider me a SOHO operation and the very expensive document management solutions are out of the question for me. And frankly, are overkill in my opinion. I’m aware technology changes and am concerned that the software I choose will work for a long time. Therefore, the smaller companies make me nervous regarding long term support and the support of hardware changes (imagine if I archived everything on floppy disks!) So, how the files are saved is critical in my opinion. I prefer an application that saves files in their native format and file name (your software does just that except for the added prefix which is no big deal) and I would want the file tree to be preserved (if there is a file tree with your software).
One of the advantages of document management is throwing the files into one big directory and using the search functionality of the software. However, if after many years the software no longer runs on the latest hardware and the authors of the software are out of business, what do you have? Your have ten thousand files in one giant folder! Good luck sorting that mess out. So I think file names are very important for this reason and some kind of file structure using the standard file tree with folders and sub-folders.
I’m not certain of the functionality of your software as I have not spent any time with it and, as an end user; I’m not really qualified to make any judgments.
Anyone with the desire to scan, archive and search documents most likely considers their files to be very important. This same person is looking for a long term solution with provisions to store and access their files over many years. It’s logical to say then; the software used must work for the life of the file storage. This could be 10, 20 or more years! This really isn’t a concern with most software as the end user can continue to backup their files on the latest and greatest bluray hardware and all they need is the latest software to use the data files. With file storage/search the metadata is proprietary to the software and without the software a person would have a serious problem. This is like me giving you a key to an automobile and telling you the automobile is parked at the airport. You get to keep the automobile when your key opens the door. I know you get the picture.
In closing, the only relief the end user has is knowing there’s some kind of file naming and structure to their files once the software is no longer supported or won’t work on the latest hardware upgrade. If I were marketing your product I would address these concerns immediately. I’m talking front page of the website in bold print, in your face advertising. As of this writing, I’ve not been able to make myself comfortable with any software (even the big boy’s products). Is upgrading from XP to Vista my only solution? Or, do you have a better way to explain what your software does to make me more comfortable.

I know I can attach the .doc file, but it would be nice if I could print the document out of the Microsoft Office Suite directly as an image and then tag within 42Tags. It looks like XPS is intended to offer that functionality, probably Microsoft's attempt to come up with their own proprietary technology. If I can't do this, could you recommend a virtual printer application that would save a Word or Excel document as an image?
