I installed the iphone app and the extension in both windows XP and Linux and neither OS seems to be feeding to the iphone. The iPhone app just says Looking For forever.

Inappropriate? There was a new release of the linux version late yesterday (Dec 10th) to better handle default linux installs. The new linux version is 1.0.0.91
Is the iPhone on the same network as the host computer?
Did you click on the "i" icon on the top left to pick the computer you want to control? -
On Windows, you may need to install Bonjour, also known as zero-configuration networking, http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx... -
Inappropriate?I installed all the latest editions this morning from the website. I clicked the "i" and its not showing and "Songbirds." What port is it trying to connect through, although it shouldn't be an issue as they are in the same network/router. It does the same for either the windows or Linux versions though.
-
Inappropriate? The port is currently 10666 but that could possibly change in the future.
Are you running firewall software on each machine? -
Inappropriate? Thanks. I don't have any firewalls running on any machine inside the network. It started working a little bit ago though. I didn't change any settings or anything, but its working now on both machines. I wonder if something was down in the network I didn't catch. Anyway thanks for the help and its nice to have a way to remote control my music since its mostly on Linux.

Inappropriate?excellent !!!

the iphone can not connect to the computer.
any ideas ?
-
Mattvador, can you please specify what configuration you are running?
Macintosh, Windows, Ubuntu? If so, what version of each? Native, or Ubutu installed under windows (Wubi)?
Have you tried restarting the iPhone App?
Have you tried restarting Songbird? Restarting Songbird we know is an unreasonable expectation for a user to have to do, but knowing if this fixes the problem will help us address where the problem is.
Thanks. -
Inappropriate?yop :)
it would be easier if you'd have speak french :)
Ok, i run windows xp sp3, songbird 1.0.0, i download songbird remote today so i think it's the last version. i've an iPhone3G 2.2

i tried restarting the iphone, no effect.

Inappropriate?ok, it's re-blocked... when the iPhone keybord is locked, and when i unlock it, it stop working... i use alicebox in wifi and my PC is connected with ethernet cable
it re-works instantanely when i restart songbird and songbird remote
(in fact, when the keybord of the phone is locked, it can works when it's always connected to the wifi... i think that in order to save the battery, the iphone lose the wifi connexion after a while... and it try to recover it, the problem appear -
Inappropriate?Hi,
I had the same problem on Ubuntu 8.10 with a Songbird Night Build version for Beta testing purposes. My Iphone was connection for ever. I solved this problem by just start playing a song in Songbird. I realized in my task manager that Songbird was in sleeping mode when not being used. You can solve this by just playing a song.

Rogier

and please post how it goes. Thanks. -
Inappropriate?I had the same issue. A hot tip would be for you to be very prominent about making sure the port 10666 is open to the PC you want to remote as all have either a software FireWall or a router to provide WiFi with that need to forward/open this port. It worked well as far as the default functionality counts. Pack the app full of features like Ajax-like search and genre sorting of songs etc. and you've got yourself a paying customer.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?snuttemjuk what OS were you using?
-
Inappropriate?Hey. No worries. I resolved the issue myself and issue was with my WiFi Router with built in firewall stopping any traffic over any other port than those I've manually allowed. If you're curious to know, I'm using Windows XP 64-bit version. I can't even begin to tell you what a hassle it was to install Itunes on it, having to hack the .cab-files etc to work around the built in limitations of the installer. This works like a charm though. Keep it up.
