The ads lost you a potential customer
Been trying out the service since January, expected to use it more and eventually pay for an account, but then you sneaked in ads (with the obnoxious [X] button bait just make things more obnoxious). Maybe this sort of things is acceptable on the Windows platform, but my mac is not a trash. I deleted the app on my computer and my iphone.

Inappropriate? Our paying members do not all appreciate having to subsidize our non-paying members for, as you admit, you yourself have been using it for 6 months now.
Ads are just one way to help keep the costs down for our Premium members so that we can offer a product to everyone.

Inappropriate?Gotta agree with the official rep here. As a free user it's not like I enjoy having ads forced on me, but I appreciate their purpose. And it's the sort of thing you get used to on the internet, noone complains about Google's sponsored links. They're hardly obnoxious anyway - they're hand picked and they even match the colour scheme in most cases. Plus, I believe a recent policy change means all the ads will pertain to products that have a direct link to Evernote, and I don't think it's possible to have more focused and useful advertising than that.
