When will I be able to import PDF files into Evernote?
I would like to have the ability to batch-import PDF files into Evernote. This is literally the last hurdle I'm facing in making the switch from my brain to the software. I just have a ton of PDF files scattered all over the place that I need to get into Evernote, but the screenshot route is not efficient, and exporting the PDF as a JPEG only seems to convert the first page.

Inappropriate?I'd love this too. I've found myself trying to drag PDF files into Evernote a surprisingly large number of times lately.
(Strikes me that the text recognition would be even easier too!)
I’m portable and a document

Inappropriate?Oh dear God, yes. I've emailed the Evernote Devs about this. This is the ONE killer feature that Yojimbo has that Evernote lacks.

Inappropriate? This will be available very soon.

Still waiting for this, one year later... -
Inappropriate?Evernote has supported PDF files for over a year now ... ?
-
Inappropriate?Sorry Engberg, you're right -- PDF import is supported. I was forgetting this was just about raw import, not OCR, which is what I am still waiting for...

Inappropriate?OCR for images in PDF files (for Premium accounts) is coming relatively soon, too. This is a lot more complicated than simple image files (jpeg, gif, png) because PDFs can have many images, in lots of strange formats. But we think we have a good solution figured out, so it's coming...

Inappropriate? This is interesting, but odd -- I'm not bothered about the images in PDFs, but the text! You almost seem to imply that the PDF text is already indexable, but I am certainly not aware of the Mac client supporting this. Can you clarify? Thanks
-
Inappropriate? If a PDF contains normal, selectable text (e.g. you did a Print to PDF from MS Word or something like that), we will index that text on all platforms, and you can search for notes containing the corresponding PDFs.
If a PDF contains an image which happens to be a bitmap picture of text, then we do not do text recognition on that bitmap image, so you can't search for words that appear within pictures that are inside of a PDF file. -
Inappropriate? Thanks for that - most of my PDFs are scanned with a Fujitsu scanner so I'll clearly have to wait for the image solution you refer to.

Inappropriate?Wondering what Engberg means by "relatively soon"? I know you don't want to set unreasonable expectations, so let me offer 4 options:
a) Within a week
b) Before Labor Day
c) Before 2010
d) Before the London Olympics (2012)
Can you select an option, Mr. Engberg?
Thank you! :)
I’m hopeful

Inappropriate?Does the pdf-upload also already work via their API? I tried it via Tarpipe but the file type is not recognized at Evernote. I don't know where the problem lies. Is it Tarpipe or Evernote?

Inappropriate? If you add a note that contains a PDF attachment with MIME type "application/pdf", we'll process it eventually. If you see a PDF preview when you view the note in one of our clients, the type is probably correct. If you just see a file icon, then they're giving us the type with some other type.
