Should I upgrade to Pro-HD setup?
So, if everything else remains the same (including mediocre ISP download speeds), does an upgrade to the HD system significantly improve the playback quality?
Would you actually get HD quality playback on any sized TV with a stream rate of, say 1200 to 1400 Kbps?
I have been using SlingPlayer 2.0 without any noticeable problems. I actually like the guide, too.

Inappropriate?Hi - The HD-PRO Slingbox uses the more advanced h.264 version of MPEG-4 for video encoding. The older Slingboxes use Windows Media 9. In side-by-side comparisons, most people would agree that h.264 produces a better picture, even at lower bandwidths (some would say the picture is MUCH better, ESPECIALLY at lower bandwidths). I would encourage you to visit a2btv.com and click on the Chat link. One of our reps can provide you with a demo of one of the HD-PRO systems and you can see for yourself.
The quality of the picture is also dependent on the computer you use for playback. If you're using the new HD-PRO Slingbox, it's best to have a VGA or HDMI output to your TV.
Have you tried using our proxy servers to get a better download speed? Are you limited to 1200-1400 Kbps by your ISP, or has that just been your experience. We'd love to work with you on your speed issues as well.
Finally - I'm glad that you're having good luck with version 2.0 of SlingPlayer. It has been very hit or miss for our customers. When it works, it's amazing - otherwise it seems to be one major headache after another.
Thanks for the question! -
Inappropriate? Thanks for the quick reply. I'll check out the Chat link to view a demo.
I just purchased a high end computer with top quality video card using DVI output. So, video wise, that should not be the limiting factor.
I tried using the US and European proxies, but saw no real differences. I've signed up for the best advertised broadband package here in Singapore (up to 100Mbps), but I don't think I'm seeing that benefit. Not sure if they are throttling it.
Will your Chat people be able to help me troubleshoot speed problems? -
Inappropriate? The chat representatives have some abilities to work with you on speed, however we are working on a more comprehensive solution to address speed issues around the world. I'll be sure to notify you once that system is in place.
