New Page Layout / Design
Hi AboutUs,
I really like the space-saving you did over the last few days (http://j.mp/x7asL) but I don't understand why you haven't gone further?
My suggestion is that you move the "SignUp / Login" button to the top of the page (in the header, next to the search bar) and then stretch the content section (div id="content") from "656px" to around “856px”.
Then if a user is signed in... I would suggest that with a bit off ajax you could create a "Click To Expand" user box... This would slide down from the top (from the space that is left by the "SignUp / Login" button) and display the current user box (i.e. their image and user links) over the page content as and when they need it!
I would then also hide the new "lists box" content so that only the header is displayed automatically... Then whip out the ajax again to create a "View" button that would slide down the list of "lists"...
This would make the page look something like this - (note that as this is an old style page I have also removed the "edit" & "history" buttons from the middle of the page and moved the edit button up to the top menu bar (the place where I would put it if my suggestion of editable "new style" pages was implemented))
I hope you like my suggestion!
Kind Regards,
Michael

Inappropriate?I think you'll be quite pleased with the further changes we have planned to roll out this week.
I’m pleased

Inappropriate? We're definitely thinking the same way with regard to Login. We're planning to make it smaller and at the top - thereby clearing the right hand margin entirely. This will allow us to open up the main section of the page so that the more important information has more breathing room. With regard to lists I agree that we shouldn't show too many, not sure about showing none because we want folks to get a sense of how the lists work. We'll probably try to show the ones that are most relevant.

Inappropriate?Hey Ray,
Thanks for the update...
I like the new "full page" design... Looks good (even if it has messed up a few articles/pages)!
I’m happy

Inappropriate?Yeah, now that we've got it widened we've got a bunch of other cleanup things we can do. Please keep the great ideas flowing, we really appreciate it!

Inappropriate?Hey Ray,
You probably haven't finished up the clean-up yet... but on the delete pages there is some overlapping of text!
"Edit | Article | History" show under the text "Warning: The page you are about to delete has a history" on the "Confirm delete" page.
Then on the last delete page the "edit" link shows under the deleted URL!
I’m indifferent

Inappropriate?Hi Michael,
That's a bug. I've added it to our tracker and it should be gone in a day or so.
