Focus on web 3.0 and not web 2.0
The interesting thing about your company is discovering more about an element - quick links to where else you can find out about this same thing. Your old plugin did that well, but then glue came along. Now its about who is looking at that element - which is pretty much irrelevant to anyone outside of the tech nerd community. Most people look at these pages to find information, not to have a 'social' experience.
Focus on the Web 3.0 stuff and not the Web 2.0 applications. If you want to show me who has viewed an element recently, do it in the corner and spend the majority of the space telling me other places I can find this element on the web. What you do with the real estate in your plugin is key.
You should also think about using your database to create pages like unhub has (see my signature), but instead of for people, for elements, and do an SEO experiment on them.

Inappropriate?I've got to agree, I loved the old Smart Links application. In fact that's what drew me to your service. The new focus on other people is nothing like what I wanted. Is there a way to return to the old Smart Links (with a Glue sub-feature) instead of this new Glue social feature and hidden Smart Links info?
If not, I'm afraid I cannot keep this on my site any longer...
I’m disappointed.

Trae, are you referring to the SmartLinks that install onto blogs and websites or are you talking about the browser add-on? -
@Fraser the SmartLinks javascript. If someone installs the browser addon I can understand the primary focus on social pieces, but SmartLinks should still primarily serve the larger audience. The old version was useful, the new one is confuses people not apart of the Glue network. -
We're actively reviewing SmartLinks and the entire experience. We think that there's room to improve the user experience. I'd love to hear any and all suggestions. Perhaps you can follow up with some thoughts at fraser AT adaptiveblue DOT com -
Inappropriate?@Michael, thanks for the thoughtful comment. We definitely have room to improve on the user experience and the information that is surfaced. We've also come a long way from where we started.
While the add-on has evolved, the core idea has remained the same. One lesson learned in this iteration is that the shortcuts are a tad too buried. Expect a fix for this in a future release.
As for your suggestion that nobody is interested in seeing opinions and reviews about an item on the page, our qualitative and quantitative feedback says differently. For many, this is some of the most interesting information that can be provided.
Thanks again for taking some time to share the constructive thought. The timing was fortunate as we're discussing ways to better integrate shortcuts at a higher-level within Glue.

Thanks for your quick response. Perhaps Im only less interested in the social aspects because my group of friends is largely a bunch of Luddites. I would love to see a new version with more accessible shortcuts and less people. Certainly, glue has only made the service more complex and dynamic, and all the old features are there. I just think that for my purposes, the real estate in the bar is mismanaged. I will follow up with some ideas via email. Thanks!
