great UX on the cheap
@AdaptivePath what's the most cost-effective (low cash) way for an early stager to create good UX in a consumer web prototype?

Inappropriate?First, be clear about the who the customer is (Who?) what value the experience delivers (What?) and how it fits into the customer's life (How?). If you have solid answers to who/what/how you're in better shape than most.
Second, we suggest tools like sketchboards to quickly get many ideas out about the experience. Once you have all your ideas out of your head and in the physical world, you can decide with your partners what combination of ideas is the right solution to be prototyped.
Third, try a 'dry-run-of-one.' Find one person who would be a target customer for you. Walk them through your sketches or prototype. Have them "think out loud" and tell you what doesn't makes sense, what's uncomfortable, or what doesn't fit into their life.
Then learn and repeat. Customer (and investors) will see WHAT value the experience brings and HOW it fits their lives because it'll be baked into every interaction.
