I can't get msn messenger to connect. I've tried deleting the account and re-creating it, but that doesn't work either. I also tried creating new preference files with no success either. I have an aim account on adium as well and it connects just fine. Any ideas?
I just downloaded adium and I typed in my login correctly for MSN. The program says it logs in to almost 100% but then says, "Error: Unable to authenticate: The e-mail address or password is incorrect." I went onto Microsoft Messenger to make sure my username and password are correct and they are. What's up?
No one on my msn list (msn is the messenger i usually use with Adium), that isn't using Adium, can't see my display picture.
I've looked on Wiki on the Adium site BUT all of it seems jibberish with the debugging window and such.
Can someone give me an easier answer to solve my question?
After upgrading to 1.3 all my ICQ contacts' names reverted from aliases I had assigned to them to just ICQ nicknames, which renders them all unusable for me.
So instead of manually going through hundreds of contacts to figure out who's who I was looking for an option how to use and display the person's real name (from ICQ profile) in contact list, however couldn't find anything else than just either a number, or a nickname (View > Contact Name Format).
Am I missing something, or this seemingly basic option is not present?
I can't connect to AOL or MSN and it keeps saying that the socket is not connected... I have no clue what that means. If it's saying I'm not connected to the internet.... I obviously am. I'm also having troubles using MSN for mac and AIM.... someone suggested using Adium.... but now I can't get it to work.
I just got a mac... so I have no clue how to get around it.... PLEASE HELP!!
I upgraded to 1.3 today, and almost right away noticed something was wrong. All of my combined contacts were screwed up: Some previously joined contacts were split, and then others were inexplicably joined together.
I had to go through my entire goddamn contact list, inspecting every entry to see how it was screwed up.
Not only that, trying to split out a bad contact that contained 2 of my brothers accounts yielded even more frustration. Splitting them out separately works fine, but when trying to join them together lumps them back into the incorrect account.
I realize that Adium is free, and that you guys work on it in your spare time, and I am very appreciative a what a normally great application you've provided for us all to use, but I feel like I've been pissed on. Did no one see this heinous bug in beta testing? I know it is also affecting my co-worker, who mentioned it yesterday but didn't realize how much his contact list (much bigger than mine) was FUBAR'd.
I'm running Adium 1.3 under Leopard. I'm trying to use Adium to connect to a Jabber chat room, but it doesn't want to let me. When I try creating a Jabber account in Adium, I get nothing -- no error, no crash, no nothing. (Note, I do have a valid Jabber account on the server in question -- I can connect to it from iChat.) If I delete all the prefs and plists as per various FAQs, then relaunch, I can create a Jabber account if it's the first thing I do in the "Welcome to Adium" wizard -- but I can't edit it afterwards under Accounts; I click the "Edit" button and nothing happens (no crash, no error message, just nothing). I've also tried this in Adium 1.2.7 (Debug and Normal) (nothing of interest shows up in the debug window).
my icq account on adium can't connect! It shows an error message saying : The Client version you are using is to old. Please upgrade at http://pidgin.im/ : I visited the website but it's worthless, or I just didn't see any help there.
Surprisingly the icq account works on ichat.
Any ideas?
edit: ok it seems that this seems to be a big thing currently going on with the Icq network.
I have two contacts that I have tried deleting from my contact list over and over again and when I select remove it tells me they have been removed but when I logout of Adium and log back on they appear on my contact list. What do I do to fix this problem?
