Contact list alphabetical sorting is not retained

I have my contact lists sorted alphabetically, but it seems like as new contacts sign on and off they do not appear in the list alphabetically all the time. I often need to reselect the menu option "Sort Alphabetically" even though it is already checked. Doing so re-sorts my list. I'm using version: 1.3.3.
