Adobe air can't connect to the internet
No air apps which require web access (Twhirl, Tweetdeck, Alert Thingy) are able to connect.
This problem has only developed recently.
This happens with the firewall on or off.
I have reinstalled Adobe Air and the apps in question.
I am running Windows Vista with all latest updates.

Inappropriate?I uninstalled comodo firewall, installed zonealarm and 24 hours later zonealarm finally asked if I wanted to allow adobe air and then tweetdeck. Both now are working.
I'm unsure why even with the firewall off, Air and Tweetdeck were unable to access the web.
I’m happy but confused

Whoah, never woulda thought! Comodo is a program that has been unused on my computer for a LONG LONG time!!! I checked to see if it was running on my taskbar and it wasn't, but I wasn't sure if maybe some other .exe was running that was related to Comodo... so I started comodo and added Tweetdeck to the list. BOOM! Inmediate relief! THANK YOU HONEYCUT! -
Inappropriate? This is Windows7 specific answer but exhibits the same behavior. Worth a try:

Inappropriate?I have the same issue. I downloaded a bunch of programs that use adobe air, like tweetdeck, twhirl, alert thingy, spaz, seesmic and more, and none of them work.
So apparently it's an adobe air thing, but how do we make it connect to the net? what ports do we have to open??? =(
I’m frustrated, desperate, bummed

Inappropriate?I had this problem and just solved it. See if this link helps you:

Good luck. -
Inappropriate?Cabby, thank you for posting this solution, but it doesn't solve the problem, because everytime that I open tweetdeck, the folder is automatically recreated.
I try to delete the forlder, login on tweetdeck, but it hangs when trying to add a twitter account. It keeps saying validating, but nothing happens after that.
I use windows vista 64 bit. Someone would please help?
I’m frustrated, angry

Inappropriate?I tried Cabby's solution without success. So I took the same measures all the way. I uninstalled every AIR app and AIR itself. The I searched my drive for AIR-related cruft and deleted that. Then I ran CCleaner and swept the registry. Then I rebooted. Then I re-installed AIR and Twirl and Tweetdeck and I'm still nowhere. I've shut down every network-using app and then captured the remaining network traffic with Wireshark. Nothing from Tweetdeck or Twirl. So I fired up TCPView from SysInternals, no traffic from Tweedeck, Twirl, or AIR.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Solved: I had set Internet Explorer to "work offline." Turning that switch off, so IE could connect, and Tweetdeck is back to normal. Twirl and Seesmic too. (Grumbling about undocumented "features")
I’m happy, thankful, relieved

Inappropriate?Well, I tried also what Dave55 said, and got no luck. And I actually have a question about IE.
How is setting IE to work offline, related to the solution of the problem? What does IE have to do with tweetdeck?
Also, I don't even use IE. I use firefox 99% of the time. Is there something I can try with that?
Thanks!
I’m annoyed because tweetdeck is not helping with this problem!

Inappropriate?MelD: Set IE to "Work Offline" either through the File drop down or if you're using IE 7 or 8 and don't have the Menu Bar showing, use the Tools drop down and it's there.
I have no idea why AIR uses the IE online/offline settings. I understand many Windows applications pull the Internet settings from the registry for such things as proxy and plugins, but online or off? Doesn't make sense to me.
I hope this helps and you get whatever your glitch is resolved.
I’m undecided

Inappropriate?Had same damn problem. Checked "Work offline" in IE, but I was "online". Air still not able to connect. Tuned IE to "work offline" and then tuned IE to "work online" again. Gues what, everything fine now! Bug or feature?
I’m happy
