Clicking links from AIR apps opens new Firefox windows instead of tabs

The more people who report this problem, the more it gets noticed.

Inappropriate?Actually there is a way to avoid the problem. You have to set htmlLoader.navigateInSystemBrowser to false in order to prevent it opening the links in the default browser.
This is what the documentation says about navigateInSystemBrowser:
" Specifies whether navigation of the root frame of the HTML content (such as when the user clicks a link, when the window.location property is set, or when calling window.open()) results in navigation in the HTMLLoader object (false) or in the default system web browser (true). Set this property to true if you want all navigation to occur in the system web browser (not in the HTMLLoader object). "

Inappropriate?Alex, this is not about default vs. alternative browser - its about tabs vs. windows.

Inappropriate? To add some clarification, I am experiencing this problem on a Mac. Many other Mac users are having it too according to this thread: http://getsatisfaction.com/seesmic/to...

Inappropriate? If you go to forums for AIR clients for Twitter and Pownce (like Twhirl) they all have crowds of users complaining about this behaviour. *Very* annoying.

Inappropriate? This thing totally turned me off.
If XUL had the hype AIR got, I'm pretty sure there wouldn't have been this kind of dumb problems :-/
I’m disgusted

Inappropriate? This is by far the worst problem with Adobe AIR applications. I love using Twhirl for Twitter and FriendFeed, but absolutely hate it when links keep opening new windows in Firefox. I cringe every time. AIR apps will never survive with a simple, yet very huge bug.

Inappropriate?Just wanted to say, we are aware of this problem with navigateToURL() in AIR when Firefox/Mac is the default browser, and we are tracking it. To the best of our knowledge it is only a problem on the Mac, not with Firefox for Windows.
I can't promise if or when it will be fixed, but I hope that it's at least some comfort that it's on our list. -
Inappropriate?Since the problem in the mac with Firefox, does that mean it will never be fixed because we are a minority? At least and ETA or something along the lines of 'it will be fixed in 1.2' would be plenty, but acknowledging the problem and then shoving it aside is not very good PR.
I consider this a MAJOR problem with mac version of your software, downright usable.
I’m extremely frustrated

Inappropriate? This is a crazy problem, what kind of voodoo is Adobe AIR doing on the Mac to open a link? Why does it differ from the default behaviour of opening a link from any other normal application on the Mac OS, which works fine and lets the default browser i.e. Firefox open a new tab, if that's the desired user preference. This just makes no sense and needs to be fixed, not maybe, not perhaps - it should be fixed, and it should be made a priority.

Inappropriate?I'm in a bit of a bind, because, as an Adobe employee, I'm probably not supposed to comment on when this bug might be fixed, or in what upcoming version of the AIR runtime the fix might be available. So I'm going to just say again, we are WELL AWARE of this problem. Personally I will add that I find it annoying too and can't wait to see it fixed myself.
