Fireworks CS4 won't launch after installing Snow Leopard
I installed Snow Leopard this evening, and now I get the following error EVERY time I launch Fireworks:
Fireworks can not run
An internal error has occurred
I tried reinstalling Fireworks, but that didn't seem to help. I'm running the Design Premium package...I haven't seen anyone else with this problem yet...any help would be much appreciated, since I spend most of my life in Fireworks.

Inappropriate? Please install the Fireworks CS4 update and then try again.http://www.adobe.com/support/fireworks/downloads_updaters.html

Inappropriate?Same problem here. The suggested fix by Sarthak doesn't work--I'm already using FW 10.0.3.11. The update doesn't even work.
*sigh* I wouldn't even have installed Snow Leopard if I had known about this.
I’m disappointed.
-
Inappropriate?Likewise, I'm running the latest version as well. I tried the updater, but no luck.
I’m still frustrated
-
Inappropriate? So what I ended up doing was do a fresh install of Snow Leopard (i.e., FORMAT MY HARD DRIVE, ADOBE) and reinstall FW then install the update. After about 6 crashes on closing a document, it seems to be stable.
I’m still reinstalling all my other apps

Inappropriate?I recently installed Fireworks CS4 as part of the web premium suite on a brand new mbp running snow leopard. I get the same error message:
Fireworks can not run
An internal error has occurred
Uninstall/run clean script/reinstall have not solved this issue.
What are adobe doing to fix this issue?
I’m furious
-
Inappropriate?Surely they will have to release something as more and more users upgrade to snow leopard and in turn get this same error. I paid a lot of money for the CS4 suite, and fireworks is one of the most important apps for me. This is pretty ridiculous!
-
Inappropriate?Couple of thing to try out.
1. Install the latest updates. I see some people reporting the issue on a fresh install. The patch release might fix that issue.
2. In case the patch does not do the job, go to User->Library->Application Settings->Preferences->Fireworks CS4
AND
User->Library->Application Settings->Adobe->Fireworks CS4
and rename the Fireworks CS4 folder. Launch Fireworks afresh. Hopefully it should now launch.
Question: Do you have enough privileges with the user account to run Fireworks? -
Sarthak, thanks for the reply. 24 days ago, I did step #1, which didn't work. That's what caused me to wipe my hard drive clean (which really, really sucked). I hope suggestion #2 is more helpful to others, I just wish you could have mentioned it nearly a month ago.
Also, yes, always had privileges. -
Inappropriate? This did not work for me.
-
Inappropriate?Didn't work for me neither. I upgraded Leopard two weeks ago.
The program launches, it's possible to create a new document but as soon as I grab a tool (text for example), the program become unusable and I have to force a quit command.
It's also impossible to open an old document.
I'm very angry about adobe. CS4 is a daily pain.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Didn't work for me either.
I'm confused. There is obviously an issue with Fireworks CS4 running on Snow Leopard. Renaming a folder doesn't seem like it's going to magically fix it.
I share everyone's frustrations with this. We pay (what I think) is a ridiculous amount of money for adobe software, because it's supposed to be the industries top dog, but then we find that it doesn't even run on mac osx! I mean openoffice runs fine on snow leopard!
I’m perplexed
-
Inappropriate?I've just found on another forum, that removing or deleting adobe folder in User > Application support > was fixing the problem. After two huge seconds of intense questioning I finally decided to remove that folder, and FW that was a hell, began to work normally again. So... This is a major way to solve that problem. And I find it normal then... Installing a new layer of OS X, while keeping old prefs and settings, should cause disorders. The thing is that it's unbearable that Adobe doesn't check those main lines. If they say : no pb for upgrading the OS, they should have known that all won't be a promenade.
I'M ANGRY. I'm angry cause...
Illustrator CS4 is a huge upgrade, but all others softs were more or as efficient as/than CS3 versions. Tab stuff / Open GL in photoshop is a huge piece of mud, that should have stayed Beta for now. After FX is still using 3Go ram max (when computer can run 16Go !!!)... And more, and more... Let's wait for true 64bits apps. Sorry but CS4 isn't worth buying it unless you have no choice caus' you work in advertising and that everybody updates softwares... So I upgraded too.
That's what I call an out of place hegemonism.
I’m ANGRY

Inappropriate? It's just aswell no-one pays for CS4 really. It's not worth anything when this type of shit happens
I’m fucked off
-
Inappropriate?please do not go for fireworks bugs being not fixed for months and months again. get your apps working, adobe! or sell yourself to someone who can.
I’m angry

Inappropriate? What is going on with this? I just paid $299 for Fireworks... ugh, wont even start up. What the hell?
I’m ticked. Give me my money back!
