Importing 3D and manipulating it further

I think After Effects is great for manipulating 2D and 3D content. However, I think it would be even better to import 3D directly inside this software. It would really cut down on the animation pipeline quite a bit, but why stop there? If you enable the importing of 3D content, you should also put in some 3-dimensional manipulation features as well.
