In Acrobat 8 Professional, how do you change the typewriter text color?
When I add text to pdf documents using the typewriter tool, the text is purple. It was black originally, but I do not know how it got changed to purple.

The ctrl-E option didn't work for me. The properties bar only comes up for a text box, not for the typewriter. Here's is the cumbersome work around I found. I am using Acrobat 8.
1. Use the text box tool to type some text, then select the text
2. Use the properties bar, ctrl-E, or View > Toolbars > Properties Bar, to change the color of the font
3. Highlight the text, not the text box and copy the text.
4. Click on the typewriter tool and type some text.
5. Click on the comments menu and select "Show Comments List", in the comments list you should see the typewriter entry from step 4 above.
6. Highlight the typewriter text in the comments window then paste the copied text from step 3 above. It should paste with the color selected in the properties bar.
7. Right click an area of the typewriter entry in the comments list, and choose properties.
8. On the General tab check the "Make Properties Default" Check box and click OK.
All new typewriter entries should now use this new font color.

Inappropriate? It could be that older PDF documents display in a different color. I think Adobe used black for awhile, then switched to red. I don't think this is modifiable.
I’m thinking this isn't changeable

Inappropriate? It can be changed, it's just incredibly unintuitive. Select the text itself (not just the textbox), then press ctrl-E (Windows) or Command-E (Mac); this will bring up a text properties toolbar that will allow you to change the color, font, size, style, alignment, etc.
I’m annoyed by unintuitive software

Jamie, thank you so much. I wish people from Adobe make this easy to find. -
