Inappropriate? What's even more frustrating, is that by requiring a case-insensitive filesystem, Adobe is essentially admitting to sloppy coding. That's a real shame.
-
Very true. ALL of the other applications I use work fine with my case-sensitive filesystem. It's time to pony-up the man-hours and fix this thing, Adobe. -
Inappropriate? The day someone comes out with an alternative to CS (a la Apple Works vs. Microsoft Office) I will bail out on Adobe faster than you can say "Crappy Programming."
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?I build websites. Websites use Flash. I cant easily use my Mac to emulate a Linux driven server, why? Servers are case sensitive.
In the end, I need to jump through hoops to setup my dev environment JUST BECAUSE of the Adobe Suite. Bah! I'm constantly looking for options to replace the Flash IDE (e.g. TextMate and the open source compiler)
I'd stop looking if Adobe stepped up though and supported this, or if somebody else stepped up and became a major competitor to Flash (or at least the Flash IDE)
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Adobe is 10 years late to approaching this problem and 40 years out of sync with mainstream computing. Since when is this a REQUIREMENT on a UNIX BASED system? How do they expect serious web developers to choose between using their products and using just about every other cross-platform system out there? Thanks but no thanks, I will stick with GIMP (slow as it is on OSX) until Adobe gets their head out of the sand.

Inappropriate?Adobe!!! Wake up and stop being so DAMN LAZY!!!!
My wife is a professional graphic designer who for years has much preferred Quark to anything that Adobe has come up with. Now she has a job for a client who requires that she use CS4, so she bought a copy only to discover upon getting it home and trying to install it that it requires a G5 or Intel processor. She has been doing just fine on a dual 1GHz G4, and now we have to buy her another computer!
As if that's not enough, I went to install it on an iMac G5 that I had as a spare, and I too got the "won't install on a case-sensitive filesystem" issue.
Adobe! You should be ashamed!!!
I'm a professional software engineer, and I KNOW that this is just blatant LAZY SLOPPINESS!!!
The real error is assuming that case is insignificant in file names. Unix and its derivatives have treated case as significant from the start. It's only with the advent of "toy" operating systems like DOS that case became something to ignore. In fact, Apple is somewhat to blame for incorporating this "feature" in their earlier OSes too.
C'mon Adobe! Please do something about this. Your sloppiness shouldn't dictate what filesystems we can put on our computers. YOU DON'T OWN THEM, WE DO!
I’m frustrated and angry

Inappropriate?I need to create a book with InDesign. I have a FAT32 partition on the same hard drive, but it does not seem to help.
This issue is not acceptable from a top-tier company.
I’m desperate

Inappropriate?ug. agreed-- it's a big poke in the eye for many mac users. and for what, so a few files do not have to be renamed?
I’m very disappointed & frusterated
-
Inappropriate? What a shame! I am a Unix user, and I've always been using case-sensitive file systems.

Inappropriate? If the company I worked for had this problem, they would fix it within a week and release patches. If it wasn't fixed in a week, heads would roll.
I’m extremely surprised by Adobe
-
Inappropriate?Such sloppy coding... it used to be you could fix this in CS3, but now it wont even let you install... If how you fixed it in CS3 is any clue to the reason it doesnt work in CS4, then it would have taken less resources to just fix the fucking few files that were loaded incorrectly because of case than it would have to create a check and error message and get it localized like in CS4 to stop you from installing. Adobe, if you are reading this you have horrible managers and coders.
I’m really fucking pissed
-
Inappropriate?Ugh, just ran into this bug, I can't believe that a software company this large and successful does things like this.
I’m annoyed as hell
