Why won't Photoshop Installer open?
I have a brand new top of the line 17" macbook pro, and the student edition of Photoshop CS4 (Not been installed yet). When I open the installer on the cd, it asks for my administrator password, and then bounces two of the photoshop icons in the dock, then they both disappear, and nothing happens. I also tried to install it on my old macbook with leopard, and the same problem occurs there as well. Since I can't install, I can't register the program, so I can't get customer service from Adobe. Please help!

Inappropriate? No, I haven't reformatted, it's still extended (journaled). I've been on the phone with technical support for two hours, and am getting nowhere; they won't even help me because I'm an educational product user, and don't have a serial number yet (it's still being verified). Right now, even a trial version would be better than nothing; I have some work I need to do.
I’m very frustrated with Adobe technical support.

Inappropriate?I can try and get you an escalation with a north american customer service rep. Feel free to send me your contact info at jtranber at adobe .dot com.

Inappropriate? On the off chance the media is damaged, have you tried downloading the 30-day trial off of Adobe.com?
-
Inappropriate? That would be great! I was on hold an hour and 20 minutes before I even talked to anyone, and now I've been on hold being transferred for half an hour.
As far as the media being damaged, I have tried to download the trial version before, both on my old macbook, and the new MBP, and it had the same problem. Back then, I thought it was because I'd had a trial before, that expired, and I then uninstalled, but now the same problem occurs with the disk version. The only thing I can think of is that there's some sort of trace of the old trial still on the HD, (since I migrated all my data to the new computer) but I wouldn't know what to look for to get rid of it.
I'll email you my contact info right now.

Inappropriate?Sounds good. You could try the uninstall script in the meantime in case you do have some trace of trial installed: http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/...

Inappropriate?Hey Josh, I haven't received your email yet. I'm a little worried it got caught in the spam filter. Are you on Twitter?
-
Inappropriate?Hey Jeffrey, Thanks for all your help! I didn't email, because I tried the uninstall script, and it worked! Photoshop is installing right now. (I'm posting this on my phone). Everything looks like it's going smoothly, thank goodness.
Thanks again!
I’m thankful
