Could adjusting the filtering level be any slower? Seriously, could it? Last reply on July 03, 2008 19:27.
I would like to drastically speed up the flitering level adjustment process. There are at least three ways to do this:
#1 - Allow the user to set a default filtering level for new feeds.
#2 - When importing a block of feeds, allow the user to set a flitering level prior to the actual import process
#3 - On the "My Feeds" page, instead of dropdown lists for each feed, the page could have columns for ALL, GOOD, GREAT, and BEST and the user could check the level for each feed. This would shorten the process of click, wait for dropdown list to expand, select, repeat for each item. Alternatively (or in addition), have a global checkbox and a select action box (think of selecting a whole page of messages in gmail) -

No Change in GReader after extension install in FF3 Last reply on July 01, 2008 19:28.
i installed the googlereader firefox extension and all i see is a drop down menu for all/good/great/best and nothing else new in google reader. Am I missing something? I am using Firefox 3. I don't remember explicitly installing Greasemonkey but I don't know how to tell if it is installed or not. I am very frustrated as this extension looks like the kind that I would love and want to share with many people, but I am close to giving up on it. Help? -

Why aren't the comments being included in post rank? Last reply on June 27, 2008 15:45.
Why does my feed not show the comments received by my more recent posts, when it shows my earlier ones.
It has the effect of making the top 5 very static.
Here is my feed and blog:

GreaseMonkey Incompatabilities Last reply on June 20, 2008 09:03.
Just an FYI to BETA users - there is a known possibility of there being an incompatibility with the GreaseMonkey Firefox extension. If you have GreaseMonkey installed and then install our extension - the extension may not do anything. We are actively working on a solution to this problem.
As an interim solution, we recommend disabling Greasemonkey (from Firefox add-ons dialog - *not* from GreaseMonkey settings) while using our extension.

"Uh oh, an error occured while processing your request."

I'm trying to view a filtered feed, but something is broken.
For reference, this is the link I was trying to follow: http://www.aiderss.com/great/techcrun...
I'm using FireFox 3... it appears to work in Safari. Maybe a FireFox 3 incompatibility? -

How long between feed updates? Last reply on June 18, 2008 20:54.
I just created a new feed and it's wonderful! I'm very impressed with the service. However, it was "last updated" 4 hours ago and I was hoping it would stay closer to real-time (within an hour or so).
Is there a setting for this? If not, what is the average amount of time between updates so I can decide if this will work for me or not?
Thanks! -

AideRSS always uses main site feed instead of specified feed URL Last reply on June 12, 2008 15:46.
I would like to be able to filter specific site feed, for instance:
http://www.downloadsquad.com/category...
But when I add this feed into AideRSS, auto-discovery is performed and the main feed
from DownloadSquad front page (http://www.downloadsquad.com/rss.xml) is added instead of the specified feed.
Is there any workaround for this?

Hacker News feed problem Last reply on June 11, 2008 16:17.
AideRSS is reporting that the Hacker News feed (http://news.ycombinator.com/rss) has not been updated in 13 days, when in reality it appears to have never stopped updating. -

Ability to specify an original feed URL? Last reply on June 11, 2008 13:50.
I'm using Yahoo Pipes primarily to combine RSS feeds and filter out some content (eg: sponsored posts from the Gawker Media family, idiotic posts about 'too much packaging' from the Consumerist, and a Digg Stupidity Filter that's self-explanatory.) I do this because a few regular expressions help save me from the inanity of the Internet every day. When I use these custom feeds with AideRSS, all posts are ranked as a 1.0 - which seems reasonable now that I've figured out why it's happening.
I was wondering if there was a tag I could use or deploy when utilizing a custom feed to specify the original feed's URL, since all that's changing from the original content is the source URL and the number of posts. I'm pretty sure Pipes lets me add custom XML attributes and it would be really handy if AideRSS could pick this up, and assign the appropriate rating to each piece of content.
I know some of my combined feeds might be a problem to parse (Engadget Uniques, for example, takes Engadget+Engadget HD+Engadget Mobile posts and runs a unique title filter on them) but the filtered feeds should only need to have a different source set.
Even at worst, I wouldn't be too adverse to plugging in the original URL somewhere on the AideRSS site under my account. I was slightly confused with the Google Reader extension - apparently it doesn't exactly tie into your personal account at AideRSS.com?
Cheers,
Jake -

Flickr + Postrank Last reply on June 10, 2008 22:28.
Could you include flickr favorites and inclusion into groups in postrank? This would specially come in handy in order to determine the best recent photos from groups. -

Greasemonkey script not working with google reader Last reply on June 03, 2008 19:55.
I've installed the Greasemonkey Script. It shows the Dropdown menu in my reader but for some reason it doesn't pagerank anything and if i use the dropdown menu to select an option it does nothing.
Any ideas how to fix this?

Haloscan comments not counted in PostRank? Last reply on June 03, 2008 14:35.
The Top Post widget I added to my blog has been static (no updates at all). At first, I was confused about why. Now it appears that the problem is due to aideRSS not counting Haloscan comments in the PostRank. It would be great to have a solution for those of us using Haloscan for comments. -

AideRSS - How do I delete individual feeds after an OPML import? Last reply on May 28, 2008 17:51.
I've imported an OPML file into AideRSS but now need to remove a feed from those tracked. The "My Feeds" list doesn't show anything despite it saying I currently have 62 feeds (about 2/3 of the OPML file, so far).
How do I go about this? -

Improve ranking in non-english websites Last reply on May 25, 2008 21:32.
Spanish websites do not get listed in Digg. It would be great to rank spanish posts measuring their presence in digg-like sites, like meneame.net , for example.
In general, it would be great to add "local" social-bookmark sites to rank the posts in each language. -

An epiphany about aideRSS's terminology: "Great" means the blog is relatively crappy and you want to filter more aggressively Last reply on May 25, 2008 17:42.
Ok. I feel pretty dumb. It finally dawned on me how to use aideRSS properly.
Originally, I just imported all my RSS feeds (in OPML format) into aiderss and it generates a single feed that has the best posts from all my feeds.
That's how I used aideRSS since it came out until today...
Today I realized why there's a text box for you to type in the URL at the front page, aideRSS is meant to be used as a feed scrubber!
You put in a feed, for example, lifehacker.com and then you pick your "choosiness" level. For example, if I only allow "Good" posts in, then that eliminates half the posts on lifehacker. If set to "Great" posts only, then I would only see 20% of the posts.
Once the RSS is piped through aideRSS, I can get back a filtered RSS feed, that I then put back into NetNewsWire.
And voila, I only see the more important posts from the really prolific sites like lifehacker.
Also, I realized that I've been using the "My Feeds" preferences completely wrong... I thought "Great" was supposed to mark a blog as my favorite -- thus adjusting its ranking to give it more boost. It means the exact opposite!! "Great" means this blog is relatively crappy, so you only want to allow the creme of the crop.
I don't know if other people ran into the same thing. There might be some UI design lessons in here.
