70000 comments and Aiderss missed all of them but convinces world of credibility.
I was truly a huge fan of what you were doing. ...a year ago. But the lack of interest in accuracy is telling.i will cheer for your success like all the rest but this is a major problem and i have a hard time believing it is limited.
we are on the typepad system but domain mapped to www.towleroad.com
Please advise.

tlrdmike, the most reliable way to fix this problem would require a change in the markup of your comment template. Currently, your theme provides us with no hoooks to figure out where the comments begin or end. The best way to address this is to wrap each comment into an HTML 'list'.
I'm including a sample templating block which you can use to address this:
http://blog.aiderss.com/posts/07-08/c...
As you can see, we wrap all of the comments into an 'ordered list', and then put each comment into a 'li' (list) element. Also, the comment ID is prefixed with 'comment-'.
Let us know if you need any help with the template, or if you have any questions.

i would apprecate some help actually. i've implemented this three times and waited for something to happen. A week later nothing. i tried with unordered lists because the users hated the numbers. Didn't work. So now back to an ordered list with css hiding the numbers. Any insiight or corrections begged for. i'm beaten down by this one. but i can't let it go at this pont.

Mike, I see you've updated the comment template - I'm surprised that didn't work. We'll take a close look at what's happening tomorrow. Appreciate your patience. We'll update the thread as soon as we have more information. -
Inappropriate?Mike, the feedburner feed listed on your site is currently returning a 404. Is this the correct link: http://feeds.towleroad.com/towleroad/... ?
-
Inappropriate?Every since last weekend when the Google folks moved the feeds over it's been very temperamental. They say they are on it and promise to have it fixed completely. Obviously with 15K+ users it's driving us a bit crazy.
For testing you are welcome to use the underlying feed http://feedproxy.google.com/towleroad... which is domain mapped with a CName . (and if i'm not using these words in the correct way, it's a sign of my level of understanding.). In fact the core feed that we send through Feedburner is the following one...if that helps in figuring this out:
http://towleroad.typepad.com/towleroa...
is sent through Feedburner Google as:
http://feedproxy.google.com/towleroad...
which we then use their "My Brand" service to use DNS to have it out there as:
http://feeds.towleroad.com/towleroad/...
i'm going to investigate and send another note to the contact there.
it seems they are having trouble migrating a lot of feeds from the postings inthe Google group. -
Mike, it seems to be picking up the comments now:
http://www.aiderss.com/all/feedproxy....
Note that todays comments haven't been updated (we'll be working on decreasing the check interval in the near future). -
Inappropriate?I really appreciate your diligence on this and can't really believe that in the middle of this Feedburner's move over to Google Adsense has further complicated it. I do see comments from two days ago are being counted. Yeah! That;s a first! I do encourage your developers to do the work to make this easier for others, but you are clearly on to something and it is worth the work.
I'll check on it for a few days and hopefully come back and be able to post this case closed. -
Inappropriate?Hi,
tried the product te first time today and all blogs i am interested on will not show the correct number of posts. I think this is pretty basic to calculate the importance correctly.
A good starting point to fix those issues would be to cover all larger blogging systems one by one, e.g. starting to fix this for Wordpress.
Thanks -
hfp, by number of posts, are you referring to comments on a post, or the actual stories in the feed? In either case, can you please give us a few urls, we'll investigate those. -
Inappropriate?Thank you for the reply, Ilya!
You could try, e.g.: http://getsatisfaction.com/aiderss
For more links i would prefer that you lookup the list of recently added URLs to the AideRSS system because of privacy (i don't like to link more bloggs here). Or is it possible to have private mesg. on this site too? -
I don't believe the site has private messaging capabilities, but you're welcome to email a list to me and we'll look into it: melanie at aiderss dot com. Thanks!
