No longer available for an Verizon Env2??
So the rocket scientists at the Verizon store flashed my wife's Env2 when trying to solve a problem. They, of course, wiped her Airset application in the process.
No problem right? Just re-download it. Well... now Verizon tells us that the Env2 is NOT supported and we can't re-download it.
What's going on?!? It was working fine on her phone but now we can't re-download it?
Any ideas?

Inappropriate?Yes, the Env2 is still supported. I think that once you install an application from Get It Now, it is not presented any longer as an option to download. It sounds like the Verizon site thinks you still have the AirSet application installed and so it is not being presented as an option.
My only suggestion would be to contact Verizon again and explain the situation. Perhaps they need to cancel your AirSet Mobile subscription for the application to show up again as a choice on Get It Now ? -
Inappropriate?Hey Jim,
Thanks for the quick reply. I have already contacted Verizon. Unfortunately, the geniuses at the help center seem to be as ill-informed as the store employees. It was the help center that told us it was no longer available.
I escalated to a manager who said he would look into it.... but I'm not hopeful based upon past experience with Verizon.
I'll let you know... but you all might want to circle around with Verizon to make sure this doesn't happen to your other customers. -
Inappropriate?Paul,
Thanks for the follow-up, and I hope the manager can resolve the issue for you. -
Inappropriate?Well.... spoke to the manager today who contacted their internal GetItNow people. He was told that Airset has been removed for the env2 and thus is not available.
Is there confusion between your company and Verizon?
Can you let me know what the issue is?
Thanks! -
Inappropriate?Hi Paul,
Thanks for trying so hard to resolve the problem. I checked our phone compatibility list and the enV2 is indeed listed as a supported phone. I will check with our mobile engineer for a better update to the situation.

Inappropriate?Yes... the whole situation is quite maddening. It obviously still *works* on the Env2.... it is just that Verizon has decided to remove it from the GetItNow store *for* the env2 thus no one with an Env2 can download it and run it on their phone.
Like some bad Catch-22 nightmare.
Please let me know, as I'm about to unsubscribe from AirSet for *all* of our family's phones because if one doesn't support it, having it on the other phones is useless.
Regards,
Paul -
Inappropriate?Just got back from the Verizon store, where I upgraded to an LG Dare. Last I checked the Dare is supported (and AirSet lists it as a supported phone). When I got home I tried to download AirSet and cannot, as Verizon does not support the application for the Dare.
According to the Verizon website (www.verizonwireless.com/getitnow), AirSet is only supported on 3 phones.
I was able to switch back to my Razr and keep Airset, but when this phone dies my AirSet dies with it.....

I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Yup. I just saw this too:
Available On These Handsets
LG Chocolate VX8500
LG VX8600
Samsung SCH-A990
I'm currently running AirSet on my Motorola E815, but it seems that Verizon has decided to stop supporting Airset.
Considering I've not heard back recently from anyone from AirSet on this, sounds like my issue is resolved. I'll have to discontinue my Airset usage on all my phones and use Verizon's calendar syncing instead.
If I were Airset's management team, I would be more than concerned. -
Inappropriate? At the moment we think this is just a glitch in Verizon's developer system. We have not received any communication from them that they plan to stop offering AirSet on their phones and we currently support over 40 phones, not just the 3 listed on the Website. Unfortunately they are not very responsive to developers.
-
Inappropriate?Brian,
Whether they have communicated it to you or not, they HAVE stopped supporting handsets. As you can see from this thread, my original problem was that the application is no longer ON the GetitNow store.
I think you all have a much bigger problem then "a glitch in the developer system". I was told by a Verizon manager that it was a decision to remove it from the GetitNow store.
Ultimately, the point is moot. You are going to be losing what I can probably resaonably assume is an important revenue stream; recurring monthly fees on cell phone app subscriptions.
A look through your forums not only reveals the two of us in this thread, but I see another unanswered thread by a guy who can no longer get it on his phone since upgrading.
I, for one, am going to have to discontinue Airset usage (and payment) because of this problem.
I have a feeling I am not an isolated issue. -
Inappropriate? The three phones they support are all clamshell phones rather than touchscreen phones. I don't know if that is part of this or not. I have read that the touchscreen phones are not as responsive as one with navigation buttons, but don' t know if that is entirely true (the Dare has quite a bit of touch screen menus with small buttons).
I am just glad that I still have my Razr so I have time to figure out an alternative. I am switching the Dare to my wife so I can keep her Razr as a backup.
It is difficult when you rely on an application and it gets yanked out from under you. I don't like the Blackberry/Smartphone approach and this is a great alternative.

Inappropriate?So..... Airset.... what is the status with you all and Verizon? My billing cycle is up tomorrow, and I will be forced to remove Airset from my remaining handsets if my others cannot run it.
Can you at least PLEASE give an update on what Verizon is telling you? -
Inappropriate?Paul,
I am sorry for the delay in responding. I was not being copied on this thread and so didn't know you were waiting for a response. During the time you have been waiting, we have worked with Verizon and they have determined what their error was and have fixed it, re-adding AirSet to the applications offered on their phones. They have told us that this will be available on Verizon phones again starting on July 21st. I don't know what the delay problem is, but we have confidence that they will have it up on that date.
Again, I'm sorry for the delay in AirSet letting you know what the problem and resolution is. Please let us know if you do not see the application as of end-of-day July 21st or the morning of July 22nd, and we will look into it again.
Thanks for your patience, and again, sorry for the lack of communication.

I’m happy to be able to help...
-
Inappropriate?well, yahoo for Mark! Brian, give him a raise!
I too am a long time Airset user, but not surprised about the complete lack on knowledge on Verizon's part
on past recent experience I have gone into Verizon stores and was chatty with online sales and I regularly know more than the sales reps about the phones I'm looking at and none of them have ever heard of Airset
I’m mixed towards Verizon, happy with Airset
-
Inappropriate? It is now July 22nd, 1:50pm EDT, and AirSet is finally on the GetItNow list of apps. Go to "GET IT NOW", then "Tools on the Go", then "1. Get New App.", then "Business Tools/Information".
My sincere "Thanks" to those who stuck it out and got this issue resolved.
I’m very pleased...
