RSVPs Forever and ever and ever...
A couple of problems with RSVP.
I'd like to send a reminder with an RSVP request for a recurring event. I thought the email reminder would come out with the RSVP option for each occurrence, but I've sent out the event notice and find that folks are RSVPing for all future occurrences of the event, not just the upcoming one. RATS! What's going to happen when the automatic reminders are sent, in this case, three days before the event? Is the RSVP option going to come out with the reminder for each occurrence?
Also, I attempted to use quotation marks in the email notification and got the html tags (ie, "MC") in the note where the quotes should be. Pretty embarrassing when I'm dealing with computer resistant folks who will surely shake their heads, sigh deeply and say, "what was all that gibberish in that email?" What's the problem there? Or do I need to avoid certain punctuation marks?

Inappropriate?Recurring RSVP for a recurring event is an interesting feature. This will be added to the feature request list. Reminders should be sent for all occurrences. If you see it doesn't work as designed, please let us know.
About the second issue: Quotation marks or any other characters should be handled correctly in all AirSet applications. Did you see the problem in the mail when you sent an email of an event in Calendar app?

It would be great if reminders could go out with the RSVP option. As for the quotation marks, the html code appeared in the email notice that was sent to the participants when I changed (ie, scheduled) the event in Calendar. -
Inappropriate?Thank you for the update but I couldn't reproduce the situation here. I will ask our engineer in charge.

Concerning the quotation marks problem: I had put the text with the quotation marks inside parentheses---a parenthetical comment. I wonder if that is what caused the problem of html code printing instead of the straight quotes in the email. Ya think? -
Inappropriate?I think you can get the desired result by creating a repeating event, set the reminders, but do not making it an RSVP event when you first create it. Then, each interval, edit the event - NOT the series - for the next interval and set that event as an RSVP event.

Thanks. I think I can do that. It will just mean that I need to set up a task reminder or something so I don't forget---not that I would EVER forget! Thanks for your help on this. Having not used the RSVP feature before it didn't occur to me that I shouldn't send out an initial notice of the recurring event when I created it. I'll use your suggestion. -
To be honest, we didn't anticipate the use of RSVP with repeating events, the feature was conceptualize for single meetings, social gatherings, and other one time events but I can see how it makes sense for a repeating event where you would like to know each week or month who is going to show up. -
Inappropriate? We've scheduled a leader's meeting every month and it's helpful to know how many to expect so we can get enough donuts and coffee...or avoid getting too much; enough hand-outs and other resources. As far as that goes, if a particular team leader isn't able to make it, we can try to get a sub for them.
As you say, it's not all that hard to edit each occurrence make change it to an RSVP event. As far as that goes, I could just schedule each meeting individually every month instead of multiple months in advance. A task reminder would remind me to do that as easily as reminding me to edit the event.
Thanks, again. AirSet has become a key part of my organization strategy. -
Inappropriate? As a follow-up to this thread, I've dealt with the problem of forgetting to send the RSVP notice. I schedule a recurring "reminder-event" in my personal calendar concurrent with the event that I need to send an RSVP notice about. I title my "reminder-event" something like "Send RSVP notice-Leaders Mtg" and then set the the "reminder-event" reminder for a few days ahead of the meeting. That alerts me, perpetually, to send the RSVP notice.
Alternatively, I could set a recurrent "reminder-event" in the cloud computer where the meeting is scheduled and then mark myself as the only participant and the reminder-event as "private."
