AlertMe should create a range of 4/8 way surge protectors, with SmartPlug technology built-in.

I've just come across AlertMe after reading about their partnership with Google in the Guardian, and noticed that they make something called a SmartPlug, which lets you remotely monitor the energy usage of a specific appliance, turn the appliance on/off and also extend the range of your WiFi network.

I'm planning on buying SmartPlug's for the majority of the appliances in my house, but a £25 per item, it's getting quite expensive rather quickly.

It would be brilliant (and much more cost effective) if AlertMe made a 4 or 8 way 'surge protector' style device that had the SmartPlug technology built-in. This would not only save me money, but it would also look much better than having a regular surge protector, with a SmartPlug on each port.
