All too often, you buy an item or two and realize you're only a couple of bucks short of getting the free Super Saver shipping. The cost of shipping is generally more than the cost difference, so you add some small item you don't really need just to put you over the top. Heck, there are websites dedicated to just this process (
http://www.filleritem.com/ for one).
Instead of having customers buy these ridiculous little items that they don't really need and will likely be thrown out anyway, how about allowing customers make a charitable donation in that amount to put them over the free shipping limit? They don't buy something they don't need, Amazon doesn't have to ship anything extra, and money goes to a good cause. Everybody wins.
