My Airport Express, setup as a WDS remote with an Airport Extreme, keeps dropping internet connectivity after a few hours. Last reply on July 04, 2008 13:28.

I recently bought a new Airport Extreme Base Station (Gigabit, 802.11n) and replaced my older (c.2005) Airport Express with it as my main network router. Now I want to use the older Express as a WDS remote to extend the network.
I've got everything configured properly through the setup wizard and all is well for several hours after setup-- I'm able to connect wirelessly to the network and connect to the internet. Both the Base station and the remote show Green status lights. All is well.
Then, 4-5 hours later, although the status lights are still green and I can connect to the network wirelessly, my internet connection is lost. And 'Internet Connect' only shows me connected to the Express (MAC address)... and Airport Utility only displays the Express, not the Extreme..
Separately, using either unit as a base station with no remote, I have no problems, everything works flawlessly.
There's a pretty lengthy discussion about this issue on the Apple Support forums (here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.j...) with no resolution-- apart from the hope that Apple will release a new Express revision that may address the problem.
Please don't tell me, Apple, that the solution to this issue is for me to spend more money. Please.

No printer setup utility in Leopard? Last reply on June 28, 2008 02:53.

Trying to configure an Airport Extreme Basestation to share a printer. The instructions direct me to use the Printer Setup Utility, which I don't have. A short search at Apple support shows about ten trillion people in the same mess. They direct people to use the Fax and Printer setup in System Preferences, which doesn't seem to provide anyway to turn on printer sharing via the base station.

Issue with Airport Extreme Base Station and LaCie drive Last reply on June 18, 2008 21:19.

Why won't my Airport Extreme Base Station, recognise my LaCie 750GB D2 drive? I have owned the drive for months, and never had a problem using it directly attached to my Mac. I have reformatted the disk (Mac OS Extended) and used the base stations USB connection for other devices without any issue. LaCie support say this is a known issue and the issue is with the base station.

Shutting Down My Airport/Computer for Long Holiday Last reply on March 27, 2008 00:57.

I will be gone for a month and thought I'd shut my computer down, as well shut off the electrical strip to my computer/printer/airport/time warner cable. Does anyone know if this will cause me problems when I come back. As in, will I have to resync my Airport/computer/printer? Or any other problems that might occur my doing this. Thanks

Is it possible to download the AirPort Disk Utility? Last reply on January 24, 2008 10:04.

I have a first generation AirPort Extreme Basestation (802.11n) that I have hooked up to a big USB drive to provide centralized storage for my house.

However, my wife hasn't installed the AirPort Disk Utility on her (Tiger) MacBook and I can't seem to find the disc that came with the basestation. This seems like the kind of thing that I ought to be able to download from Apple somewhere, but I can't seem to find it.

It looks like AirPort Disk Utility isn't needed in Leopard, but until we upgrade, is there somewhere to download it?
