Here's are the Safari bookmarks I read every day when I get on the bus to go to work. And how great is it that I can read them and listen to music on the same device while standing up on a cramped bus? Pretty freaking great, is how much.
1.
Facebook. Just one of the best designed iPhone apps out there. Keep up with what's going on with my friends.
2.
Twitter Mobile. There are a million iPhone apps for Twitter out there, it seems like, but my favorite's still the one that Twitter makes. Mostly because it seems like sometimes the API-based ones drop an update or two, but the main Twitter one never does.
3.
Google Reader Mobile. Fantastic interface to my feed subscriptions. Plus, Google does this really cool thing where, when you click on a link out of Reader and onto the web, it strips out all the images and reformats for mobile viewing, which is great when you're reading blogs on the iPhone. Despite the slow EDGE network they load superfast!
4.
The New York Times River. Built by Dave Winer, the concept of the "river" -- a long stream of information, organized by latest first, all on one page -- is a fantastic way to browse articles on a mobile device, particularly the iphone. And it links to the mobile version of the nytimes.com site, which is great because that also loads fast.
So there you go! Do as I do with your iPhone, and you'll never lack for something to read on your bus ride to work.
