My first iPod touch's home button suddenly stopped working, so Apple mailed me a box and I sent it back. They replaced it, but the one I got back had a much lower quality screen.
My first iPod touch had a simply gorgeous display. This new one:
When viewing straight-on, the colors are good. Tilt it slightly away and slightly to its right and the middle (not extremely dark or light to begin with) colors get way lighter.
When moving (hand or head), flicker/shimmery horizontal lines dance in a subtly annoying manner.
I've sent this new one back to Apple *twice*, and both times they've mailed it back saying " your product meets Apple specifications for performance, usability, and functionality". Some standards...do most iPods really have this bad of screen?
I feel gypped out of my original $400 buck investment. The first one actually was fun to show off, this one is ugly IMO. What do you folks suggest I do? I'm about three hours from the nearest Apple store, so I can't really go whine to an Apple employee directly. I suppose I could email
sjobs@apple.com, but I'm guessing I wouldn't get much sympathy in exchange for annoying a busy CEO with my $400 "trifles". Small claims court seems like a pain, and I'm not sure if I'd really have a legal claim. Apple just delivered a fully functional turd, like every other big corporation does these days...
