First of all, I'm in Thailand. Being such a Apple customer is not so good in here since they have a double standard. So, I want to ask for a prove of this problem
I have a 85W Magsafe adapter for Macbook pro. It's 16 months old, so surely it's out of the warranty. Somehow I want to get the new one, until I found out this article:
http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/20/ap...
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1977
So, I brought my adapter in for replacement, they said it wasn't in the warranty so they couldn't replace it, and ask me to call Apple in Thailand. So, I called Apple SEA in Thailand, got a nice guy to answer my call, and then I shared him that KB page.
He understands my problem well, but the problem was that article was talking about only insulation on the Magsafe part, not on the adapter side. So he said that "because it didn't mentioned in the KB, it means no." Boo!
So, I just come here for ask you. Does that KB also applies to the insulation on the other side too? If so, then I can make it as a prove to that Apple guy in Thailand. Also, has anybody ever send their Magsafe which have the same symptom as mine to the Genius Bar? And did you get it replaced?
Please help me ... I just want to know they have treated me the way they suppose to, or should I be eligible for the replacement. I don't want the cord to be melt, and burn away during my usage. I mean, I never pull the cord out from that insulation, and it shouldn't be come of like that .. should it?
Please note: I'm asking this as if I'm in the states, so that I can confirm to this Thai Apple guy that 'hey .. they replaced it in the states' if I'm eligible for replacement.
I'll attach photo after I got the adapter back from the Apple Repair store. Please help me
