Apple's Address Book supports smart folders (folders that hold contacts based on certain search characteristics). For instance, if I want to keep track of all the employees for one company in my address book, I would simply make sure I have the "Company" field filled out on each contact. I don't have to drag the contact over every time I create a new one.
There is no such functionality on the iPhone and there should be.
How can my boyfriend and i sync different contacts with our new iphones. He is using mobile me for all syncing. I've turned mobile me off for mail and contacts. Can i somehow manually sync contacts without these getting pushed to his phone via mobile me? I'm willing to set up gmail for syncing contacts but iphone won't let me just check gmail. I have to sync an Address Book contact file/group as well. Help!
After the launch complexities, Mobile Me mail is still down for many users (both Web and IMAP). While it's not all users, has anyone heard if Apple has a plan to get it reliable?
This really affects iPhone users because it's the only way to sync to an iPhone using Mobile Me (no direct sync like on the Mac, the iPhone uses the mail platform for syncing that data to MobileMe). This is a substantial problem.
Hi, I have a 3rd gen iPod nano. When i sync it to itunes using the original adapter, it syncs automatically and says it has done it but then after instead of just proceeding to the menu on the ipod it stays on the do not disconnect, eject before removing, connected screen. It will stay like this forever unless i manually eject it but then when i do this it hasnt synced any of the new songs ive added to itunes. I dont understand y its suddenly doing this!
I'd really like to be able to get my work email on my iPhone without having to use the web browser to visit the hosted Gmail page. Is this possible? It seems that synced accounts for hosted domains don't work.
This seems like a far more likely use case than what is offered, which is only variations on how many of the MOST recent (in general or unwatched) shows to sync.
I mean, I can see that there may be scenarios where "freshness" is preferred, but a lot of Television and Podcast content is sequential or episodic in nature, so I'm obviously going to want to watch episode 1 before episode 13, if both are unwatched. I can't be the only person who only has room for 1-2GB of video on their iPhone or iPod, nor the only person who hasn't already watched all but the last 1-2 episodes of the wire?? :)
I know i can work around this by manually updating my own playlist (or maybe making a smart playlist that figures this out and set my iPhone to sync that, but come on - this can't be an uncommon situation, can it?
So ?: is there an option or modifier-key trick that I'm missing here? Or a reframing of the problem that is obvious and I'm missing?
And suggestion: Apple, perhaps could you add the ability to sync/sort by Oldest as well and newest (or at least by Episode for TV content?)
I used to be able to sync photos from my Aperture library to my iPhone via iTunes. Now, with Leopard and Aperture 1.6, Aperture no longer seems to be an option for the "Sync photos from" drop down in the Photos tab of the iPhone in iTunes.
