After iPhone 2.0 upgrade, Stuck in Recovery Mode
iTunes shows I've upgraded to the latest iPhone firmware (presumably 2.0 although the version indicator says n/a. However, I get an error message that says "iTunes has detected and iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes.
If I try to Restore again, or Option>Restore it eventually brings me back to the same error. In brief, I think I have iPhone 2.0 installed, I just can't restore my phone.

SOLVED: However, you may need another Mac to pull this off. After many failed attempts to restore the iPhone on my iMac, I switched to my MacBook (which I never use for syncing the iPhone). It successfully installed iPhone 2.0, but could not activate the phone. I then reconnected to the iMac, and it activated the phone and now appears to be restoring my data to the phone.
As I typed this, my homescreen appeared on the iPhone, with the new App Store icon. It's now syncing.
I’m jubilant.

Is there any way to exit out of recovery mode without restoring the phone? I have pictures on it I would really hate to lose. Mine went into recovery mode unexpectedly as I was installing the update tonight. Thanks. -
Inappropriate?Click "set up as new iphone" instead of the perpetual restore loop. Worked for me - bing, i was out of the loop.

How do you "set up as new iphone" ? -
Inappropriate? When you are presented again with the option to either restore from a backup or set up as new iphone, although it seemed counter-intuitive, I read some forum that said to follow the path as if it were a new phone... and bing, it worked for me - I was out of the groundhog day restore.
-
I am not getting either option - the only option I get is to 'restore'. I got stuck in recovery mode when I downloaded English software onto an american iphone and now the phone is bricked permanantly in recovery mode -
