Apple should put a SD card reader on all new Mac's, and provide recovery media and manuals on a SD card.
I think it would be great if Apple added a SD card reader to every Mac in their product line (13" and 15" MacBook Pro's already have it), so that the Mac's recovery media, traditionally provided on a CD, can be provided on a SD card instead.
This would have a number of benefits,
1. It would reduce the size of the computer packaging as SD cards are a lot smaller than CD's.
2. If Apple also put the Mac's manuals and other printed materials on the SD card as a PDF, you would eliminate the need for providing unnecessary paper, reducing the Macs environmental impact.
3. By switching to using SD cards instead of CD's, Apple could get rid of the CD drive in each Mac, which means that products like the MacBook (Pro) could get even slimmer/lighter with even greater battery life. Apple could alter that MacBook Air SuperDrive to work on any Mac for those people who still need to use CD's.

Inappropriate? It may also be worth looking at putting the recovery media and manuals on a small USB memory stick instead, as this would work on all Macs made in the last few years.
Apple could produce their software (iWork, iLife etc) this way too as having it on a USB stick would allow further reduction in the size of retail packaging, and faster installation times. -
