My brand new (late 2008) MacBook Pro has battery issues. Fast depletion, slow recharge with even very light use.

Inappropriate?Same issue, thought it would bypass after the first couple charges (for some odd reason) but it is still constant. Even with the system utilizing the on board graphics instead of going for high performance.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Apple contacted me about 15 minutes ago (I had set up a time to receive a call from them). They're sending a new battery, and I need to return the old one - so we'll see if this new one is better. Hopefully this isn't a common issue. Eric, you might try resetting the SMC, although that didn't seem to work for mine...

I’m hopeful, but reserved.

Inappropriate?I am having the same issue. Apple support told me I needed to calibrate the battery. So, I'm doing that now but it doesn't seem to be helping.
I’m thinking I'm going to need a new battery.

Inappropriate?I have exactly this machine and with NO BATTERY PROBLEMS (yet). Apple will take care of you if you have a problem, I've had nothing but good experiences with their customer service.

Inappropriate? To add my 2 cts on this. I have a mbp - late 2008 too, and the battery seems to get low very fast - when the mac is in sleep. I found out that when I have no or only a few apps running before I set the mbp to sleep that it makes it through the night. when many apps are running, next morning the battery is completeyl empty

Inappropriate?MBP have had occasional battery problems for at least the last 3 years. I got mine working to 3hours+ after 2 replacements and then finally getting a compatible but non-apple battery from Hong Kong for £50 UKP. My advise is to keep going back to your Apple store and make a fuss if they don't give you one that gives at least 3 hours = that is standrad of a laptop now and many give upto 6-7 hours... that is the point of a Core 2 Intel architecture = lower engery use. You may have to keep a diary of each recharge, depletion and replacement. Its a pain but worth it.
I’m more of a Genius than any Apple Store employee I've ever met

Inappropriate?late 08 MBP 15" in with Apple now for investigation. Fast depletion, no battery seen as being in place when it is and a cycle rate of 0 to 14, no battery condition lights and sudden forced switch off at inopportune times, most frustrating.
I’m annoyed & dissapointed

Inappropriate?I have this issue too - I am confident that apple will make it right though - if I can find the time to get to the apple store. I've had nothing but respect for apple's customer service ever since they totally replaced my $12k custom built MacPro for free. (applecare)

Inappropriate?I have the exact same Macbook Pro battery issues. I have had the machine for 6 weeks and the battery has been changed 5 times, and the logic board replaced, and the video assembly replaced and its in the shop right now and i have no idea what they are doing with it now. The battery life is only about 2 - 2 1/2 hours with only two applications open and nothing being used, i just let it sit until the battery shutdown. I was told by the sales tech and have read all about the Macbook Pro late 2008 and the battery life should be 4 1/2 - 5 hours. This to me is not acceptable and i will hound AppleCare until that and other issues are resolved on the portable ( i was informed they are using the word portable instead of laptop or notebook)

Inappropriate?i get 90-120 minutes, takes a good 5-6 hours to charge up. i've reset pram, re-calibrated, have tried with three different batteries (including 2 brand new ones), reset smc, all to no avail.
