Can Itunes sync iphone using Adhoc Wifi or Blue tooth?
Does itunes only sync to the Iphone using the USB port and cable link to the Ipnone ? Previously I used a Nokia phone and PC software to sync contacts and email at any time I came within (blue tooth) range of my Notebook (Vista). Handy option not to have to fuss with cables and keep contacts up to date without relying upon internet connectivity / mobileme and data costs. Here in Australia mobile ISP data costs are v.high.

Inappropriate?Unfortunately, Apple only allows low-quality audio to be transmitted via the iPhone's Bluetooth for headsets and other handsfree devices, and syncing via Wi-Fi is not supported, so you can only sync your iPhone using the USB sync cable.
-
Inappropriate? The iPhone only syncs via USB. I've always assumed they made this trade-off because of the battery; transmitting lots of data over Bluetooth or WiFi would drain the battery, and the iPhone 3G's battery power is limited enough as it is. With USB, syncing actually charges your battery instead of discharging it.

Inappropriate?it is ridiculous that we cannot sync via wifi. seriously.

Inappropriate?Well, personally, I don't like cables all over my desk. What I'd prefer is I put my iPhone into the docking station, connected to power source and then wirelessly sync with my laptop anywhere I am (within the range of bluetooth or wi-fi, of course)... And other thing that drives me mad is the fact that I cannot use my iPhone as a "Internet connector" for my laptop. For a MOBILE PHONE sold for more than 500 Euro (if not on the monthly bill pay scheme) that's a serious problem. Even the cheapest non-touch screen phone can do that...
I’m frustrated

Tethering is coming in iPhone OS 3.0, although it has to be supported by your carrier and said carrier may charge an additional fee. -
Inappropriate?Well, while it's not supported yet, people who have dug into the ipa (think: os) files have found references to something called "wireless sync." So... We'll see...

Inappropriate?i've been mounting cell phones to my desktop via bluetooth since about 2005. i can't believe that functionality doesn't exist on the iphone. i don't want to have to plug in each time in order to sync files. so i concur with the above comments: "LAME".
I’m disappointed

Inappropriate?just came across an app that promises to let you mount your iphone or touch to your computer! here is the url for Air Sharing app: http://avatron.com/apps/air-sharing/ --- 2 versions: one is $5, the other is $10. i went for the $10, which is unlike me. hope it's worth it.
I’m confident

AirSharing is an excellent app to share files to and from the iPhone, like a USB drive. It's functionality doesn't exceed beyond that though.
