CAN YOU UPGRADE IPHONE 3G MEMORY???
I have a question about the iPhone 3G. Can you buy memory for the iPhone 3G? Can you upgrade your iPhone 3G's memory? If we can do this how?

Inappropriate? No you can't. I would suggest deleting some unnecessary apps, songs, movies, etc that can take up a lot of space. Sorry to disappoint

Inappropriate? The thing is sealed shut. No upgrades, sorry. Unless you want to void your warranty and even then i wouldn't do it - the iPhone is designed for however much memory is printed on the back.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?Mophie makes a 'juice pack' how cool if they included a sd or micro sd slot in their battery/case!? I can't imagine it would take more than an app from them to make this extra storage available for your less frequently used storage items.
I think I'll send them a note.... -
Inappropriate?Ok... sorry here, im not trying to hate on yall but, there is a BIG difference between Memory (RAM) and Storage. The iPhone has its Storage capacity printed on the back NOT the Memory specification. iPhone 3g has 128Mb RAM and 3Gs has 256Mb RAM. VERY different from 8, 16 or 32 GB of storage.

Inappropriate?jailbroke my iphone, upgraded the memory using ssh, went from 150-205MB on 3gs of VM. I was super worried about it not knowing anything about it or that it would void the warranty. well apples warranty isn't all that great to begin with it only last a year and they dont cover accidental damage, i.e. water damage which apple sees alot of. Jailbreaking my iphone trippled the perfomance of it and I have ZERO regrets, except not doing it sooner. All my skeptic friends have turned over to the dark side as well and they couldn't be more pleased. And its completley reversable via iTunes. the only need for more Virtual Memory is if you want to run mulitple apps at once, and you cant do that unless you jailbreak and use backgrounder anyways, and even that poses no threats to my RAM usage. But you don't have to take my word for it just google "top ten reasons to jailbreak your iphone"

DO you have the link to the guide that you used to add virtual memory ? I NEEED!! :) -

You need to install OpenSSH on your device via cydia and download. Assuming you have windows you will need to download WinSCP to your computer so you can access your device. I used the .plist version and it worked great. Just download it and follow the instructions in the link I provided above. Im pretty computer illiterate so it took a little while for me to figure out. I just draged and dropped the .plist from my desktop to winSCP while my device was tethered using SSH. Make sure you turn SSH off when not using so you are not open to malicious attacks against your device, which so far, fourtunatly, there are no such cases in the U.S. -
Oh ok, well .. not that part.. My phone is jailbroken and have TONS of stuff on it.. I mean the Virtual Memory part... I would LOve more than 128mb, and have about 5 gigs left so using from that for virtual memory would be a GREAT idea :). What Mod did you use to up your Memory?
