Can't get iphone nor apple tv to show up in the iTunes 'devices' list (using wifi through a FON router)

I am using a FON router linked to my DSL router to have wifi at home and I can access the internet on both my iPhone and just recently purchased Apple TV. However what non of them can do is actually getting them to show up in the iTunes "devices" list in order to be able to use the application "remote" with the iPhone and in order to synchronize the iTunes library to my Apple TV?
Can someone help?
