DVD Jon Kicks AT&T Square or How to Activate Your iPhone Without Signing the Contract.

DVD Jon is a sick, sick man. Sick with Genius!!! The man the MPAA put a hit on is back at it again, this time he has cracked the activation process. Only downside, it has to be done from a Windows terminal and you can't use the phone aspect:

Further instructions:

1) Download a Hex editor and open iTunes 7.3.0.54 in it.

2) Using the goto command, replace the offsets as listed by DVD Jon:

Offset 2048912: 33C0C3
Offset 257074: 28
Offset 257013: 33C9B1

Once these are changed, save as itunes.exe.

3)Next, open up the host file at c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts and add 127.0.0.1 albert.apple.com to the end of the file, then save the host file.

4) Now download and run Phone Activation Server:

Next, run iTunes without shutting down Activation Server, and finally plug in your iPhone. It should activate in a minute or 2.

Also noted was the fact that the Windows machine must have MS .NET Framework 2.0 installed, and port 80 must be unused.
