'Faint ticking noise' after every single software update

I have a (late 2008) Macbook Pro 15" (2.53GHz, 4GB), and after every software update, I can hear a faint ticking noise behind the left speaker. It's not load, but while working it becomes very irritating...

Is this a known problem and is there any solution?

I’m love my mac, but the sound is irritating!
