Front Row cannot find a shared iTunes library
Not sure if this is a bug or a feature, but when I try to use Front Row to connect to a shared iTunes library on my home network, it cannot locate it at all, or any of its contents. On the same machine (MacBook Pro running 10.5.4) iTunes will find the shared library (running on a Mac Mini also running 10.5.4) no problem and I can stream all the music, TV episodes and movies I have in the library, but when I open Front Row to use the nice interface and navigate the contents, it will only look at the local machine and lists nothing at all under Sources in the menu.
Is this by design? I thought a shared library meant that I could share it on any machine. Why would iTunes see it, but Front Row ignore it?

Inappropriate? It may have to do with copyrights and DRM. Since you are allowed to stream shared content from computer to computer but you are not allowed to "perform / display" it to a group of people (blame MPAA & RIAA for that). So Front Row is not allowed to play shared videos, music, etc. from another computer. I have the same problem with iChat theatre, even though I am the owner, I am not allow to stream/ display movies to my iChat buddies.
I’m pointing fingers at RIAA & MPAA

Inappropriate? That would be logical if Front Row didn't have a "Sources" item on its menu. And I'm not sure there's any distinction between streaming a film from one iTunes library to another iTunes installation, or streaming it to Front Row since the only difference (as far as I know) is that one has an interface accessed via the remote control, and one doesn't. So that's a logical conclusion to draw, Alex, but it doesn't appear to synch up with the capabilities already inherent in the home networking set-up.

Inappropriate?Have you tried disabling, then re-enabling sharing in iTunes on the Mac mini?
I’m indifferent

Inappropriate?Did that, too. Even removed the iTunes prefs out of the Library - on both machines - still won't work. I'm convinced it simply will not work.
I’m flummoxed
