Got my iPhone wet, and Apple replaced it with a new one...
Call it good karma or luck, but I thought I was doomed to pay an arm and a leg for iPhone repair. I was so amazed they replaced my phone, I thought I'd share my appreciation for the Apple Genius Bar.
Even though I got it wet, the water sensor was undamaged, so they replaced it noting "that is just stopped working." Amazing, truly amazing.

Inappropriate? So, this is what you do to a iphone 3gs when it's just got wet..... First calm down (I paniced so much my heart was going to stop) then dry as much as you can and shake it so all the exess water comes out. Second take out the sim card...find someone who has an air compressor and use it in all the open parts...charger dock, and the sim card slot, the sim card slot gives the most help as the sign that comes up telling you that (this accessory was not made to work with iphone) will go away and the network will return. Mine just came back to life after we tried everything, the air compressor is a miracle worker. Good luck, I was dying with my iphone now we are both back to life, but I wanted to share this with you all to help.
I’m happy

Holy crap!!!! It worked perfectly!!! I stuck the air compressor nozzle into the headphone jack and when I turned it on, droplets of water came out from around the power switch on top and it worked perfectly after that!! Amazing!!! -

Inappropriate?Wife's phone got wet in her purse when we were at a football game. Not soaking wet just damp. And it quit working too.
After reading these posts about this happening to hundreds of people, I believe the Apple engineers failed with their design. This is a mobile telephone, Mr. Jobs, not a desktop computer. People are going to use it in situations other than just at home. It should be a little more robust so that dropping it out of your pocket or getting it wet, things that happen all the time, do not completely kill it. They obviously knew the water damage was going to be a problem before it went on the market because they are so adimant about it voiding the warranty, no matter how new the phone is. Instead of spending their time teaching the Geniuses how to say "warranty is void" they should look at the real root cause of the problem and redesign their phone into a phone. It's simple common sense.
I’m dumbfounded

Inappropriate?I agree 100% with Dr Obvious, first of all we paid a lot of money for our iphone, second, as he said they must have known because it's full of water sensors. They should have given us an option to have rubber parts in the open slots, like Samsung. I paid 750 euros for my iphone that lasted 1 month, it's not fair, shame on apple.

Inappropriate?I got the same problem (camra locked) 4 days after I got my new iPhone. My iPhone never fell into water. Just because I brough it out on tiny rainy day.
The local Apple Agent say it's my falut and will charge me NT8000 (USD 280) ..
I’m very anxious and frustrated

Inappropriate?Ive had my phone water damaged since august 09' as i was on my motorbike in the rain for 5 hours. my phone was still on but the home button had no reponse.
after being gutted that my iphone was shagged i decided to fix it my self as apple was asking £146 roughly $300 to fix that 1 button.
i brought a kit from ebay and had the iphone off for about 3-4 days while my new homebutton and tool kit arrived. the day it all arives i turn my phone on and what do you no, the button works again.
but now i have no sound its something that went as soon as it got wet but i didnt think about that as i was to worried about my phone being completly bust.
i left the new home button aside as the original works and still does now, but since august ive had the most annoying popup on my phone " this accessorry is not made for iphone" etc bs. and sometimes its non stop.
i took it apart not so long ago quite a few times to try and fix it but the last time i slipt and i got the openning tool wedged under my screen which made it break.
i got a new screen off ebay ( gotta love ebay )
repaired it just 2 days ago and for that message which pops up, i stripped my iphone to the battery and i found corrosion on the black bit that connects to the iphones motherboard the bit that contains your mic, charging connector etc. so as i was so annoyed with this popup i really couldnt care if i bust my phone or not so i just litterally dunked it in vodka just to get it as pissed as i was :) then i got my toothbrush and scrubed both connectors for about 2 minutes. and what do you no i turn it on and the message appears and i have no sound ( sound comes back on in its own time always does ) and that was the last time i saw that message so its fixed thank christ. i do have something wrong still and ive seen this about before but. after putting my phone back together my camera dont work and my speaker where you listen to people in a call dont work.
there must be something you have to do to tell these 2 things to work again. Any1 have any ideas on how to get my recieving speaker to work i couldnt care less about the camera. pleaseee help ! :D
I’m wishing microsoft built the iphone

Inappropriate?me and my friend was in the bathroom looking in the mirror 2 days ago and she pushed me so i pushed her back and she hit my iphone right into the toilet :( i took it out a.s.a.p and took my sim card out and used the cool cycle on my blow dryer to get the water out. then shoved it in a bag of rice. i took it out today and pluged it in to my computer and it comes on and goes off automaticly but when i plug it into the wall it comes on fine. but when i put my sim in it says no service and i i know i have service because i life in a 3G coverage area. im taking it to the apple store tomorrow, for some reason my white/red wet indecater is brown :/ idk i think i might get a toothpick and some white paint before tomorrow. anyway they r giving me a new one because no isnt a option!
I’m anxious, frustrated, sad
