Help Needed! iPod Nano 3rd gen goes dead after disconnecting from Macbook

Why does my iPod Nano 3rd Generation Switches off (Goes Dead) when I disconnect it from my Macbook ? It is fully charged and I hav synced in it my songs. But, it hasnt played from the first time itself. Please Help! it has never switched on without the usb connection between itself and the Macbook. (Please mail me a reply if you can a_b_c_anonymous@yahoo.co.in)
