Inappropriate? One way is to just plug it into your computer via the USB adapter that comes with it (it's the same plug that goes into your dock and AC plug). If you're using a Mac then iPhoto may pop up and invite you to import all your photos. If you're on a PC then I assume it will show up as a device, and you can open it as a drive and copy the files over OR do it from inside the photo management application you prefer.
I’m finding this process effortless

But on the Mac this means that the only way to then work with those images is in iPhoto.
To get at the original files you can control-click on iPhoto Library and select "View Package Contents". -
Inappropriate? There is a simple way to get your IPhone pics on your computer and bypass ITunes and IPhoto. Apple includes a great program called Image Capture on all Macs. Open up the program and it will see the IPhone or any camera like device and it will allow you to download any or all of them, where to put them and if you would like them deleted off the device when you are through. It also creates great icons for each photo for ease finding them.

Inappropriate? For some reason, in the past two weeks, iPhoto stopped opening up when I connect my iPhone to my computer. It does open up itunes and synch my phone, but even when I open iPhoto, I cannot find my iPhone and can't seem to import my photos.
I have tried what @roadstar recommends, opening Image Capture, but Image Capture also does not see my iphone. It only shows my scanner.
What's the deal? I have about 60 photos I want to put on my computer. Anyone else suddenly start having this problem?
I’m frustrated
