I need a laptop stand for my macbook pro. Any recommendations?
The iLevel is quite sexy. (http://www.raindesigninc.com/ilevel.html) Does anyone use this? What are good alternatives?

I do use it. It's sturdy, and pretty hefty. I find the adjuster on the front pretty useless, but that's not a problem because I use the stand to align the screen with an external monitor anyway.

I've also heard the iCurve is decent.
I’m happy that my laptop is next to my monitor

Inappropriate?Cam uses the iLevel, and he seems to really like it, I'm going to pull him into this topic.

Inappropriate?I use the iLevel, but had to stack three phone books under it to get it to where my neck and shoulders weren't in pain all day.

Inappropriate? These are awesome ideas. Have you tried any of them?

Inappropriate?I use it with a big heavy Toshiba, and it works great. One minor downside is that if you have a cable that is tight, it tends to pull on the stand and twist it around. Took me a while to figure out what was going on (I kept rotating it towards me and it kept twisting back). I fixed it by putting my power brick on my desk instead of the floor. Also for my Toshiba the front ledge covers up my headphone jack, so I have to raise the front a bit to use my headphones. I don't think that's a problem with Macs though.

Inappropriate?I bought a Belkin Cushtop and while it's a bit pricey for a foam pad, it works wonders as both a lap-based stand (it's intended purpose) and a desk-based stand (what I use it for).

Inappropriate?I just started using Ergotron's Neo-Flex stand: http://www.ergotron.com/Products/Desk...
I was skeptical of it at first. Looks like a squat aluminum penguin. But, it works fabulously. Won me over.
I’m satisfied

Inappropriate?I have two iCurve stands - http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-Technol... which are now branded as the Griffin brand "Elevator" - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000...=dp_cp_ob_title_0
For under $40, a decent laptop stand! It leaves room underneath, it holds the computer at a good angle. Not adjustable, however. But about the right height to have the computer next to an external monitor.

Inappropriate?Dear Karen,
I have been using the Lapworks Aluminum Desktop Stand since October 2007 and like it very much. It raises my screen to eyesight level and angles my keyboard to a comfortable typing level. It can also be adjusted for use with an external keyboard.
I do however have a concern about using any stand which "angles" your computer. I have read that, in order to work properly, your hard drive should be on a perfectly flat,
level surface. So far I haven' had any problems using my stand at an angle, but I wonder what the long term effect will be on my hard drive.
Sincerely,
Werner -
Inappropriate? Here's an interesting stand -- an IKEA paper towel holder: http://cultofmac.com/?p=1641

Inappropriate?+1 for Justin. I have used the iCurve for years and it is far and away the best laptop stand I've ever used (assuming you don't turn it upside down :-). The space underneath makes your laptop run significantly cooler and also has the added benefit of serving as a repository for desk clutter!

Inappropriate?Take a look at the Launchpad (http://www.604labs.com). Not only does it lift the laptop to a more comfortably typing position, but it's designed so that you can slip the laptop inside it and then put it in your bag to carry with you.
Since it's all aluminum it also helps to keep the thing much cooler than normal (or it seems that way to me). -
That thing looks pretty bad-ass. Thanks for the recommendation!
