Inappropriate? This question was brought up a good while ago now, But I'll response in the event anyone else has this problem as well. You need to have the Apple Mobile Device driver installed (of which seems to be causing quite the set of problems with the 7.6 update for Windows users.)
This is always installed alongside iTunes and QuickTime, and is only removed if you choose to uninstall iTunes or QuickTime. It can also be the case that the Device Driver is over-written and then becomes unavailable. If this occurs, Simply re-download iTunes from Apple's Web Site.
You can tell the current status of the Driver via the Windows Driver Centre via the Control Panel.

Inappropriate?I did all of that, including manual removal of old software, still would not work.
Then Tried a new IPHONE with the new ITUNES, perfect no problem.
Then tried the old phone again with the new ITUNES, just to be sure, still no go ..
Sent the old IPHONE back to Apple who have kindly replaced it, but I'm not sure if i should connect it up to the new ITUNES as it may become disabled again ?
Chris.
I’m undecided

Inappropriate? It will most likely be a requirement that you connect up the new iPhone to iTunes, To activate the device on your network (O2 in the UK or AT&T in the states.) As long as the iPhone is running the version 2.0 software then it should be fine. If it still running Software Version 1.1.5 then I would connect the iPhone to a system other than the one that caused the crash of the other iPhone. It probably wouldn't happen again, But its quite difficult to rule that out.

Inappropriate?Hello All Frustrated ITouch/IPhone users,
I have spend hours trying to get my ITouch working again, searched solutions for "Apple Mobile Device (Recovery Mode)" and found some ideas but nothing did the trick. Uninstalled and reinstalled Itune MANY times. Tried undating drives. Finally Noticed that in addition to ITuned in my Programs under Control Panel there were two other Apple Apps "Apple Mobile Device Support" and "Apple Software Updates". Uninstalled these along with Itunes, and did a reinstall of Itunes. The install seemed to take longer and was installing more items. After the install was complete with Ituned open, I plugged in my Itouch and it FINALLY found the device and installed the proper drives. Had to Restore and Re-sync all my files but I have my Itouch back and I didn't have to send it back to have Apple "fix it". -
I was having the same problem with my ITouch and this fixed the problem - thanks! What a relief -
Inappropriate?Hi, i just tried to update my IPHONE again. Removed all of te apple s/w and including drivers .. It still would not work on this PC on alternate PC no problem at all. Must be an issue with the PC although I don't know what .. The only thing I have not updated is the BIOS, which is only 2 years old anyway ?
I’m confused
