iPhone SMS needs a forwarding function
This should be a no-brainer, except that iPhone forces me to view text messages as a chat. What if it's a message (address, event details) that I want to forward to others?

Yeah! It would make sense to allow you to "rub" each talk bubble (similar to how you can rub items to expose the delete button) and get options such as forward.

Inappropriate?Yeah it really is a pain that you can't forward messages on the iPhone. You can use a third party app called SMSD on jailbroken iPhones. It enables forwarding and possibly also deletion of individual messages (another 'missing' feature). Info on SMSD is here: http://modmyifone.com/forums/showthre...

Starting with COPY and PASTE. I guess Apple has never heard of that.
Or FIND or SEARCH. I guess that's far too advanced a feature to expect from a fruit company. Or is it a music company? Apple record label? iTunes?

searching is convenient but not necessary for me... i think the copy and paste function is necessary... ANother thing is allow sms to rotate into landscape mode for easier smsing... =P

I agreee with the copy and paste thing but have not worked out what the UI might be do achieve that. I am guessing that's why the feature is not there.

erm... multiple messaging is possible for ur info... u just need to continue adding the sms receipients in the to send box will do.... forwarding is still not available on iphone for now unless u jailbreak it and install 3rd party apps...

Check out MMS Photomessaging in the app store. Lets you send and receive MMS on iPhone. Downside is you have to purchase the credit to do so outside of your O2 Account.

I was completely chocked when i found out that the iphone, supposedly "the most technologic phone in the world" couldn't send a damm picture, Apple is doing the same trash as it did with the ipods each version fixes one thing, so when you're satisfied you would have bought the 20th ipod. Apple is all about money. I HATE APPLE, am extremely disappointed of me for having bought the iphone, am just one more fool on their trap...

Inappropriate?On the 3G iphone v 2.1, when phone numbers are received by sms, why is it that some numbers can be dialled by tapping when its underlined in blue? And at other times, phone numbers look like ordinary text and nothing can be done with it? Can someone explain?

Inappropriate?I don't want to jailbreak my iPhone - I already had one cracked since last year and am sad to lose the SMSD function.
I'm now legit with the new 3G version and feel frustrated not being able to 4ward sms-es or delete them individually.

Inappropriate?I have to carry two phones. In my business, I text a lot and need to forward some received. Even though I like a lot of the features, my iPhone will go in less than month, just in protest.

lacks a function which can be found on every $30 Nokia telephone. I think
that Apple should as a matter of urgency arrange free software for all iPhone users, to compensate for this stupid oversight.

I would like that too but that would destroy apples strategy to fool people into buying their next versions, am pretty sure their 3rd iphone version would have texts forward but wont have video recording, their 4th version would have video recording but you wont be able to send them Apple is all about money.

Well, guess there is an odd advantage to living in the boonies. By the time the iPhone comes to my state, it will be just about perfect! :D
Don't forget, though, that people weren't *fooled* into the 2nd version. Owners of the original iPhone got a free software upgrade. -
Inappropriate?I really don't care about the forwarding, as most forwarded messages I get are stupid. I really can't comprehend why apple wouldn't have a copy and paste system on the iPhone. This frustrated me from the first day I got my 3g...2 yeArs and apple still hasn't figured out to keep the basics...

Inappropriate?this is why you should jailbreak your iPhone. It plain sucks beforehand. I WILL NOT be purchasing another iPhone in the future. Leave off mms and copy/paste from your update when its easily done by someone who supports the jailbreaking community?
My next cell phone purchase will be a blackberry bold, no doubt about it. -
Inappropriate?We should boycott apple maybe that will motivate it into not fooling people, is just disgusting to think that a $200 phone cant record video, send multimedia messages or just forward a damn message, that even the free phones from at&t can do all those functions without problem, and whats worth I changed my tilt for this piece of trash.

I get your point about its just a phone, but thats like saying why should it play music then isnt it just a phone not an mp3 player?? And about the multimedia messages we shouldn't have to get an aplication for every single thing we want to do. -
aah but it is not just a phone... agree, but using the statement 'that a $xx phone can't record video' was the point. Video becomes a tradeoff between battery life and function.
Multimedia: Using the std iPhone 3G I can email the photos that I have taken - no extra application. (albeit would be good to send multiple images in one message) -

Apple's just confirmed iPhone 3.0 firmware is already rumored to add MMS picture messaging and data tethering.

Thanks MDNZ, that article helpeed me a little, yesterday I was one step to jailbreak my Iphone haha. Well we'll see what Apple is willing to give on their next firmware, hope its worth it.

The current SMS app is also being updated into the Messaging app, with support for individual deletion of messages (rather than just clearing the entire conversation log), forwarding of messages
just have to wait until June...
