iPhone will not sync with Outlook 2003 Calendar
I and my wife are both not able to sync Outlook 2003 with iPhone calendar. It worked for the first 6 months fine, and Contacts still sync fine. We both have a new 3G, I sync with a Thinkpad T60 and she with a Dell 8400. This problem started sometime after the latest iPhone upgrade was installed. Both my wife and I have spent hours (5+) on apple support lines separately and together trying numerous ways to fix the problem. It is as if iTunes does not even see my PST file for calendar, or is syncing with a blank one somewhere.
My latest attempt, after dozens of attempts directed by Apple, was as follows (also suggested by apple):
1. Restored my PC to factory state wiping out all software and data with the operating system returned to state as it came from the factory (Dell)
2. Updated XP, Office Professional 2003, Norton 2009, etc.
3. Made sure there was only one PST file on the PC (backups on portable HD) and in proper MS Outlook directory, Outlook Database checked and compacted.
4. Installed iTunes. Reset sync history. Made sure no former Apple or iTunes data or preference files on PC.
5. Wiped iPhone 3G to original State out of the box. Changed device name.
My intent was to get as close as possible for both PC and iPhone being brand new and ready to sync for the first time.
It did not work. Everything synced but calendar. My calendar is blank. This will not work for me, or my wife, and all my friends that have been thinking of getting an iPhone are holding off. It seems many users have sync problems with calendar, or contacts. I never had this problem with my Treo devices for the 10+ years I used them.
It seems to me the software has a problem, and I wish Apple would acknowledge it. I wish we had the option to point to the exact PST file and calendar/contacts/etc. Will this be fixed in version 3.0? How long do we have to wait. Our problem is now two months or so old. Looks like there are hundreds of other on this supprot site that have a similar problem.

Inappropriate? This makes no sense. Even my Blackberry knew how to specify a different PST file for each device.
I’m Annoyed

I'm also REALLY frustrated! It worked fine for the first 8 months, and now my iPhone just doesn't even register the events I put on my outlook calendar!! I used to rave about the iPhone, but now, I am putting people off getting one, and will continue to do so, until Apple fixes this problem! :( -
Inappropriate?David - have you had any resolution to this? I have the exact problem and can't figure out anything.

Inappropriate?I have probably spent about 80 hours on this very same problem with all of the attempts to reset everything. It worked for about 2 months when I bought the phone in February then the calendar stopped syncing ... although everything else continues to sync just fine. So I am carrying around paper for a calendar again after years of no problems with Sony-Ericson, Palm Treo & Windows Mobile working just fine. The recent Apple software upgrade did not resolve the problem either.
I’m also very frustrated.

Inappropriate?I had the same problems. I hope the following steps help you too as they did for me (after trying to figure out what was going on with apple's tech support)
1. Open the MM control panel, click on the Sync tab and then on the advanced button.
2. On the advanced configuration dialog box, choose you pc/lap and then click on "unregister" (initially says "register this equipment") to remove your pc from this autorized equipments.
3. Click on the Account tab and then click on the Close Session button
4. Open iTunes and then go to menu Edit --> Preferences and click on the Devices tab and then click on the Reset History Sync
5. Go back to the MM control panel (which stays open unless you close it before) and login mobileme
6. Once logged, click on sync tab and after choose what you want to sync (contacts, caledar and/or favorites) click on SYNC NOW button. And depending on you calendars do one of the following steps.
6a. If you current outlook calendar has the most current info choose replace MM info with this equipment.
6b. If the calendar on me.com has the most current info then choose replace this eqiupment with MM info
6c. If you are unsure then choose merge in order to avoid data loss, but you might do some data debug work. (Personally I recommend this step)
7. Finally, check your calendars :)
Please let me know if this was helpful. -
Inappropriate?I found a work around as Follow. Try to create a new appointment on the iphone using the iphone calendar (should be in orange color). Then try to sync with itune again. After a long waiting, you should be able to see both calendar. Fabio

I tried this but it did not work. Not sure what you mean by an orange calendar; my icon is white with a red stripe at the top on the iphone. Thanks for the suggestion. Barrie
