itunes 8.1.1 freezes
just updated to itunes 8.1.1 in Vista and when i open the program it freezes. I can't use it at all and have to shut it down from task manager. If it can't be fixed quickly, how can I downgrade to a stable version?

Inappropriate?Hi Marc,
Try to start Itunes before connecting your iphone/ipod
Go to edit - preferences - devices and delete backup
connect your iphone/ipod
Also the freeze can be the Backup not able to work, just click on the X on the right on "Backuping Iphone" to cancel the backup. -

Inappropriate?in my case I still not able to make a backup of my iphone, the backup is freezing and it's what caused the full freezing of Itunes immediately when I connected my phone.
Somebody on another forum says that he soft reset his phone, I think what it means is he just reapply the 2.2.1 firmware and put back his backup.
I don't want to do that myself, but maybe it's a solution who could work for you? -
Inappropriate?spent the day trying that yesterday....
managed to restore it after a few hours of plugging & unplugging...
but unfortunately.... it still looks like i won't be syncing until itunes gets a fix... -
Inappropriate?I fixed the freezing problem by uninstalling IE8 from Vista. Strangely I have IE8 with Windows XP in my laptop and iTunes 8.1.1 works fine without any issues. I guess it is only related to Vista & IE8. Hope this helps.

Inappropriate?Have you tried repairing the iTunes installation?

Inappropriate?mine is trying to to a determining gapless feedback scan, then freezes a bit of the way in. I figured it was a couple particular songs, removed those, and now it just beachballs when you start up. I tried, before it started just freezing to disable the gapless function, didnt work. All this after a complete crash. arghhhhhhhh I hate it when computers don't work, expecially when all its trying to do is install a trendy, but ultimately useless function.
How do I go about repairing the installation?
I’m tiffed

Inappropriate? You can download iTunes here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Do you have any plug-ins that you can try to disable in iTunes? See if that is the cause of the crash.
