iTunes makes me put a CD in twice before it will import/rip it.
This is a sporadic problem where I'll be putting CDs into the drive and clicking the Import button when the alert box pops up from iTunes. At some point iTunes doesn't complete the Import task, but rather the the CD disappears from the navigation panel altogether. I then have to manually eject the CD, then reinsert it, at which point I again click the Import button--this time it works. Bottom line: I have to put a CD in twice before I can rip it. Lame.

Inappropriate?UPDATE: I restarted iTunes and the problems seems to be resolved for now. However, there's no guarantee that the condition won't return after some time. I'm still quite curious as to why this started happening in the first place.
I’m happy it's fixed, but still baffled

Inappropriate?I have the same problem, when i put in a cd the first time the info for the cd will pop up for a second then disappear then when it asks me if I want to import I say yes and the icon for the disk dissappears and it doesn't import. When I reinsert the same disk a second time it works as normal. It does this the same way every time. It never works on one try and it never takes three, its always two.

Inappropriate? On a Mac, I am having the same problem and am just beginning to research it. But, I can offer you an easier work around than restarting your machine.
When the CD disappears, open Disk Utility (In your Applications/Utilities) folder. You should see the CD listed on the left, and it appears greyed out.
Click the CD and then press the button at the top that says "Mount," and your CD should reappear in iTunes ready to go.
Hoping for a permanent fix, but this keeps you from having to reboot all the time, I hope.
I’m indifferent
