iTunes should let you choose which podcast episodes to sync
When syncing podcasts, it would be nice to have the option to click which episodes to sync, or at least to apply different rules to different podcasts. For some podcasts, I may want to hear "all unplayed" for others, only "3 most recent", but in iTunes the options are for all or none. Otherwise I could make playlists all the dang time of stuff I might want to listen to during my commute.... Not practical as I am synching and running out the door....
I imagine it would also be useful to be able to pick music on the fly, without making a playlist, although not as useful as it would be for picking podcasts.

Inappropriate?um, are you using some really old version of iTunes? my iTunes has everything you're asking for...
-
Inappropriate? There is still no per podcast setting. And I am guessing that this is what Stephanie is asking for..
I’m amused
-
Inappropriate?I too would like the ability to set per podcast sync preferences. I listen to a number of the quickanddirtytips.com podcasts which are, as the name suggests very short. For these podcasts it would be nice to keep a hand full on my Iphone while only having 3 most recent uplayed for others. This is NOT an existing feature, sadly.
I’m sad

Inappropriate? In case you haven't seen the option, you can mimic this quite nicely using the "Sync only checked songs" option on the main sync screen. I have a great number of podcasts that I sync only a certain number of episodes from.

this is one of the best points

Cool!! I always wondered what the check marks were there for..
Thanks for the idea! -
Inappropriate? If you use the check marks, then it only synchs (why do people spell it sync?!?! - the word is synchronise!) those podcasts and deletes all the rest. This solution doesn't work!
-
... because in English, a word that has a -ch at the end means it's almost always voiceless palato-alveolar affricate, instead of a voiceless velar plosive (which would be the -k sound in synchronize). -
Inappropriate?update itunes to the latest one i think is 8.0 just go to apple.com (for usa) and apple.ca (for canada)
I’m happy

Inappropriate?I came on here to suggest this, glad to see I'm not the only one. For instance, I would quite like to keep most of a video podcast I have on my iPhone/iPod as they are only 20 secs each but conversely I don't want weeks and weeks of "Football Weekly" cluttering it up but I can only put settings for all podcasts at once.
As you say, making playlists doesn't really cut it either. It's an oversight in my opinion.
I’m annoyed at the faffing about required in iTunes sometimes
