Late 2008 MacBook Pro LED backlight issue?
On my 1-month old late 2008 MacBook Pro if I move the brightness two notches below maximum brightness the backlight on the screen turns off completely, making the screen very hard to read. Is this a known issue, and what should I do about it?

Inappropriate? If it's only 1 month old I suggest you take it back to the store and get it replaced—while you can.
Just noticed this is an old post...still only 4 months old! -
Inappropriate?I have had lots of issues with this Macbook Pro late 2008, its been in the shop over 4 times and its only 2 months old, i was in the hospital having major surgery and recovery time took longer due to complications so i didn't get to use my new macbook pro until about a month after i got it and that is when i found all the issues and it was too late to take it back. I got it back from the shop today for the trackpad, which they didn't change but they did change the backlight evidently that is the only thing that came back as broke on a white glove inspection. The screen is really bright now but i'm still not quite sure what the backlight is and what its purpose is, other than when you turn it down you can't see the screen.
