Inappropriate?There could be many reasons, such as:
Your battery can't hold a charge any longer.
Your internal power regulator may not be working properly and may not be receiving power from the battery.
Your MacBook Pro does not recognize the battery.
etc...
You may want to take it to the Apple store or call the APP support line...
